I'm reading the new THM book right now...been on hold at the library forever. It seems like it is a doable plan so I think I'm going to try it. Are you still liking it? And do you find you can stay on plan without having to buy a lot of specialty ingredients? That is my main concern.

And do you find you can stay on plan without having to buy a lot of specialty ingredients? That is my main concern. I do still like it. I did buy several items that I wouldn't normally have purchased... but they wouldn't be needed. For bread, I bought a loaf of Pepperidge Farm sprouted bread. With as often as I eat bread, that is lasting me a couple weeks. I have also bought some nut flours, almond milk, Lily's stevia sweetened chocolate. I already buy Smucker's natural peanut butter. I switched my yogurt to Oikos Triple Zero. I've bought more fresh berries than I would have otherwise spent the money on. I've eaten cottage cheese in a "cottage berry whip" recipe from the cookbook. (I never used to eat cottage cheese.)
There is a THM - no special ingredients group on facebook that would have the recipes filtered to ones that don't need anything special.
I've also bought Tostitos baked scoops since they're on plan... and off brand Light Laughing Cow spreadable cheese wedges.
I think it is quite doable, and I've even eaten out several times and been able to stay on plan.

Thanks! I found a quick start guide on Pinterest that will kind of help me ease into it. The goal for the first week is to have on plan breakfasts and snacks. Then the next week you add in lunches and dinners. I think I can handle this

Julie (and other THM ladies), how have you been doing with the THM plan? I pretty much fell off the THM wagon for the entire summer. I'm afraid to get on the scale! I will be starting up the eating plan (again!!!) the beginning of September.

It sounds interesting. Can you eat regular potatoes and whole grain bread? I have been trying to get the pinterest pages to load for an hour---with this slow internet. :-(

I'm starting back up too. All this college stuff and dealing with my fathers illness has really thrown me wayyyy off track. I'm not getting on the scale. I am going to take before pictures to motivate myself.
I don't believe so. If you do it might be considered a cross-over.

The bread has to be sprouted grain bread or a homemade sourdough.....whole wheat, I believe.

No sugar is another biggie that can be a challenge. Stevia, xylitol, and erythritol are the recommended sweeteners.

The eating plan allows you to eat fats and carbs but just not together.

Thanks,Jan. My library is so far it would be cheaper to order the book on amazon for $13.99 than the gas it would take to drive there. I have to have carbs---sweet potatoes are great and berries and sprouted bread- I can do that. I couldn't function on Atkins.I am going to order it tonite.
