I checked out the huge book from the library when it first came out a few years, but never opened it. Just didn't have time or energy to sift through that much writing.
Moneysavingmom shared that there is a new book that is much smaller. I have that checked out from the library. I also joined a couple facebook groups and am hoping to get started with this style of eating soon. From the reading I've done so far, it seems that the basic premise (very overly simplified here) is that you try to keep your healthy fats separate from healthy carbs. You eat plenty of food every day, but you do need to choose healthy fats and carbs. Also, if you're trying to lose weight, you avoid real sugar for the most part.
I want to make a plan where I'm not making any huge overhauls, but just making slight adjustments to what I eat at meals.
I'll try to keep you posted.

That's great, Julie!!! I've been trying to follow the plan for a while. I did really well for one whole month... I think it may have been March or April, but I've since fallen off the THM wagon. I've been trying to get back on. Some days I do well and others, not so much :/

Only four days in, but so far I'm happy with it. Very satisfied with the amount and variety of food I'm eating. The basic concept is that you don't have high amounts of carbs and fats together.

I've always avoided it because the first book was HUGE and it seemed very complicated to me. I'm not big on complicated.

But when Moneysavingmom mentioned that there's a new, much thinner book, I decided to check it (and the new cookbook) out from the library. I'm glad I did. So far I'm not finding it terribly difficult to implement, and I'm eating great (and plenty), and I'm losing weight. YAY!

What's the name of the new book? I might check it out if it is simpler! The other one just made my brain hurt! lol

I like the recipes in the new cookbook a lot better than the old. I've been revamping my old recipes to fit the plan. I've been off plan for a few weeks now (so much stress I just couldn't think straight) Anyway, I'm hoping to get back at it this week.

I did for awhile. I did well with it but life got crazy, doesn't it always and I couldn't plan well enough for meals.

I'm down 5.4 pounds after week one! (I do expect the first ten pounds to come off fairly easily since I put them on in less than a month between April and May). It will probably slow down after that.

Woohoo!!!! That's awesome! I've mostly stuck to the plan for just over a week now and my pants are definitely feeling looser

I saw on FB where you were mentioning it to someone. I forgot who's post that was on. (Jodie's ??) I don't read the timeline very often, so when I do, I'll read for about 15 minutes and it's a lot of stuff at once. Easy to forget the details. Anyway, I've been thinking about it ever since I saw that you mentioned it. Thanks for the link, I might order it. I've been sooooo busy that it's been hard to stay on track with losing this 10 pounds I need to lose. I've got to lose it before She Speaks though. Someone wrote #35days the other day...and, wow, I didn't realize how close it was getting. I'd heard before that it's harder to lose weight as you age. Goodness gracious, that's true. I'll be 45 next month and it is so much more work to lose a few pounds. But, I need to get back to my feel-good, clothes-fit weight, so I need to lose this 10 pounds. And fast. haha. Thanks for the recommendation.
