Dirty Snow by hsmom71 1 stick butter 1 box raisins, optional 1 pkg. chocolate chips 1 can nuts, optional 2 c. peanut butter (16 oz. Jar) 1 to 1 * pkgs. powdered sugar 1 box Golden Grahams cereal
Combine butter, chocolate chips and peanut butter in pan and melt. Combine cereal, nuts and raisins. Pour liquid over cereal mixture and mix well. (Make sure everything is coated well.) Place into paper bag or large zip lock and add powder sugar. Shake like crazy until everything is well coated!
Comment by Char in OK: This is similar to what my dh calls puppy chow!
We don't do the raisins or the nuts, and we use Chex cereal instead. I love puppy chow and my dd's get a kick out of eating "dog food".

Inexpensive and yummy homemade popsicles by mom2riandkayl 1 (3 oz) pkg jello 1 pkg unsweetened koolaid 1 c sugar 2 c boiling water 2 c cold water
Combine dry ingredients in large bowl or pitcher (something with a pour spout works best) and then add the boiling water. Stir till dissolved. Then add the cold water. Mix well. Pour into popsicle molds or dixie cups. (I use a 9x13 pan and line up my dixie cups before hand.) Then put them in the freezer for 1 - 2 hours. Check to see if they are slushy and then add sticks. Return to freezer for several hours until firm.
This is a great treat and can be made with any flavor or combo of flavors. It's fun to experiment. Some of our favorite combos are:
strawberry jello + lemonade grape jello + lemonade peach jello + orange koolaid
Comment by Nannynise We like lemon lime koolaid with lemon lime jello.
We mixed 1 box of lemon and 1 box of lime jello together and then weight out 3 oz. We then had enough jello to make 2 recipes of these. We loved them. My girls ate them in 3 days. (20 popsickles)

Whole wheat crackers by Mimi I've been looking for something yummy to make for a snack! The kids like these OK, I think for them I will try some cheese straws or something.
Whole Wheat Crackers 1 cup wheat flour 1 tbsp wheat bran 1 tsp corn meal 1 Tbsp dried minced rosemary 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp sugar 1 tsp honey 2 tbsp butter, chilled 1/4 cup water, plus 1-2 tbsp, if needed
Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, cumin and paprika before baking
Combine all ingredients except water in a food processor and process until well combined. Add water and continue to process until mixture startes to come together into a dough. Between two sheets of parchment or wax paper, roll out the dough into a rectangle of about 1/4 inch thickness. Refrigerate the dough for about 1/2 hour. Preheat the oven to 375F. Remove dough from refrigerator and roll out to approximately 1/8 inch or less. Sprinkle dough with salt and/or toppings of your choice. Use a pizza cutter to slice into 1 inch squares, discarding excess dough. Score each cracker with a fork or several pricks of a toothpick. Transfer crackers to a parchment lined baking sheet and space out slightly. Bake at 375 for 18-20 minutes, until edges are brown. Cool completely and store in an airtight container.

Chocolate pretzel smiles by Melissa This a a spin off of Racheal Ray's 5 min fudge. You can add whatever you wish, even change up the flavor of chips (aka white chocolate, etc) or add fruit, nuts, candy, etc. They are really a versitile "cook-cook".
1 pkg chocolate chips 1/2 pkg butterschotch chips 1 can condensed milk mini pretzels mini baking M&M's
Put chips and condensed milk into a pan. Heat on stove till melted (3-5 min) stir so it doesn't stick to the bottom
Add crushed pretzels (as many as your heart desires)
Drop a spoonfull on to a parchment lined baking sheet. Add 1 mini pretzel to each. Place m&m's for the eyes. Place in fridge till firm. Eat w/ lots of water and a smile as they are totally rich!
Enjoy!

Handmade Protein bars by MommaK Hamemade Protein bars Here goes the recipie..
3 C Oatmeal 1/4 C Choc chips 1/4 C dreid cranberries 1/3 C Raisins 1 C flour (usually whole wheat, but reg works) 1 tsp baking powder 2/3 C Peanut butter 1/4 C melted butter 1 C Brown sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla
Mix all together. Press into a pan and bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
I always triple the recipie and will put in whatever fruit (or trail mix I have at home). I usually food process the choc chips and dried fruit so the flavor goes all the way thru and you don't get chunks. I also put in nuts sometimes and I sometimes add a little applesauce or leave ot some of the oatmeal or flour if it is too dry! __________________ ♥Kimberly♥ ♥Strength and dignity are her clothing and she smiles at the future.♥

Homemade granola and granola bars by illinibaby1
Not sure which category this would go under? Breakfast or snacks
Ingredients -2 cups quick oats (original recipe called for whole rolled, but the quick worked just fine) -3/4 cup packed brown sugar -1/2 cup whole wheat gram flour (again called for 1/2 cup wheat germ but all I had was gram flour and it worked great!) -3/4 teaspoon cinnamon (We just dumped a bunch in b/c we love cinnamon) -1 cup all purpose flour -2pkg of high fiber instant oatmeal cinnamon swirl (optional, just wanted some more bang for my buck you could also use the dried apple kind) -3/4 cup raisins or any dried fruit (we used crazins and raisins) -3/4 tsp salt -1/2 cup honey -2 egg whites (again it called for 1 whole egg but I wanted to make these low cholesterol) -1/2 cup oil (any will work, I used olive) -2 tsp vanilla
1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease 9x13 pan 2. Large bowl mix oats, sugar, wheat germ, cinnamon, flour, raisins, salt. Mix and make a well in center. Pour honey, egg whites, oil and vanilla, mix well Pat mixture into pan 3. Bake for 30-35 min untill bars turn golden at the edges. Cool 5 min, cut into bars while warm. Don't let bars cool completely before cutting b/c they will be too hard to cut You can wrap individually in suran wrap for quick snacks.
For granola use the same recipe. bake a few min more. break into chunks while still warm. Store in air tight container. __________________ Melissa Mama Llama's Bowtique You never leave a place you love. You go away, taking a part of it along, and leaving a part of you remaining -author unknown
