Yesterday was my son's birthday (turned 17).
I brought a dozen Dunkin Donuts home for breakfast. I was good; I didn't have a single one!
Lunch. I did okay. Just had a Lean Cuisine.
I knew dinner was going to be a struggle, so dh and I went for a 3-mile walk in the afternoon. I burned off 400+ calories with that walk.
Then came dinner. Oh my.
Ds was allowed to pick where we had dinner from. He chose Taco Bell. I went online and found out that the regular crunchy tacos weren't too bad, only 170 calories each. Okay, I thought I'd be able to handle it.
When it was time to eat, I pigged out. Four tacos, plus I ate leftover KFC drumsticks from my younger sons' plates. A total of another 300 calories.
Then came cake. Yes, I had a piece. And it was yummy.
Good gravy. I ended up nearly 400 calories over my calorie limit for the day, and that was including the 400+ calorie walk we did!
Back in the saddle today!

Well I see many positives. One you went for the walk. 2. This isn't an every day occurrence . 3. You kept track even after going over. And last but certainly not least you are back in the saddle tonight, not tomorrow or Monday but today. Good for you!

Happy Birthday to your boy. I have one who's turning 17 next week. Too bad we don't live closer. Well, everything that Liz said, -- plus... Think about how you'd have been had you not been trying to keep track of your eating. I notice that the times when I'm really not watching my eating well...I'd think that the few indiscretions that I might make on a bad day were no big deal at all. But, when I'm eating well, I consider those few indiscretions to be big deals. (That's hard to explain...is that making any sense at all?) One meal at a time. (Btw, I wonder if there is a chemical component to that overindulgence? The one time that I ate taco bell tacos about six months or more ago...I felt like I ate too much the rest of the night too. Wonder if it's a chemical reaction to something in it (fake chemicals or whatever other yucky stuff might be lurking in them) that makes your brain want to find food...real food. )

I did the same thing. Birthday food will get you every time. I knew I'd be "off plan" last night because older dd wanted italian. So I just decided I'd do it with no guilt. My weight was the same this morning.
