I've been subsisting on around 1200 calories each day, trying to eat as nutrient-rich as I can. I think I'm doing fairly well, because I seldom feel hungry. I had a little craving right before my cycle started, but overall, I'm doing fairly well. The only thing I'm NOT doing well with is exercising. I went on a fairly strenuous walk ONE day, and that's pretty much it. Terrible, I know. (And I'm aware that if I were to start exercising, I would increase my calorie intake.)
Anyway, as of today, I hit the 10 pound loss mark. I have to say, I'm surprised at how fast it has come off with relatively little effort. It's been only a month, and I didn't think I'd lose that much that fast. I'm not concerned about losing too fast, though. It seems to be what my body wants to do, especially since I'm not feeling hungry.
For example, the other day I had an egg-substitute with real bacon bits, American cheese, and high fiber English muffin sandwich for breakfast. For lunch I had two heaping bowls of steamed red potatoes, squash, zucchini, and turkey sausage spiced with Mrs. Dash. Very yummy, and I felt gorged when I was done. For the afternoon snack I had an almond & yogurt bar. Then for dinner I had a couple of pieces of DiGiorno's pizza. Okay, so the dinner wasn't so healthy, but it was so yummy. Surprisingly, that came to around 1200 calories for the day. I definitely wasn't hungry.
Anyway, that's my weight-loss ramble. So far, so good. I keep expecting the weight loss to slow down, but so far it hasn't. And I don't feel like I'm suffering.
I would like to lose about 10-15 more to get back to normal.

Good for you! Are you following a particular program or just as you mentioned keeping your calories at a certain limit?

Good for you! Are you following a particular program or just as you mentioned keeping your calories at a certain limit? I'm just using MyFitnessPal to track calories and nutrition (and exercise, when/if I do it).

Karen, that's amazing. Keep up the great work! The food thing is half the battle and it sounds like you have it well under control. I LOVE that you are not hungry...shows you are eating the right things. Good job on the walk. I wish we lived close by, I'd walk with you!

I heard someone on Dr. Oz say that if you eat 35 grams of fiber, it equals 245 calories lost each day. (i.e. - it sweeps away those calories and eliminates them by-way-of nature's broom. ).
Sounds like you are getting a lot of veggies, so all that fiber might be helpful.
Yay for you!

11.2 pounds, 36 days
I had a good week. On Saturday, ds was allowed to choose where to have his birthday dinner, and he chose Chick-fil-A. So before we went, I went online to their website where they have their low-cal meal choices listed. Insteadof getting a chicken sandwich and waffle fries like I usually get, I got the chicken wrap with a side salad. That evening, when I totaled up my calories for the day, I had an extra 150 calories left for the day. So after everyone was asleep, I treated myself to a chocolate Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich. It was heavenly. (LOL)
I'm still having trouble working in exercise. My days ate just so jam-packed. Still hoping to make it happen.

Wow, Karen, good for you! Doesn't it feel amazing! I love being able to access chain restaurant menus online with nutrition info. It makes decisions so much easier and then choices are not so difficult in the moment and we are less likely to slip-up last minute on spur of the moment decisions. Way to go!!! Look at your schedule and find the time for you. It helped me to actually write time into my planner for my workouts. Everything and everybody else are in there, why not you?!? Keep up the wonderful work!
