Is that a good title? If not, maybe someone else is able to come up with a better one. (Or maybe it should be "Sunday, Taste & See", .) How did the Lord speak through your church services this week?

This month we've been doing a series on being healthy ~ spiritually, financially, and physically. Today's message was on being good stewards of our physical bodies. Very relevant to my life right now.

Very relevant to my life right now. Cool! I wish that were emphasized more in the church (churches as a whole). Nothing that we think is "ours" is really ours - all belongs to God. All should be cared for (stewarded) with the fact that it is not "ours" in mind.

Our ss series is on prayer. Instead of praying please bless this, or bless them we should Pray help me to bless (honor, glorify) You!
Our worship service series is on redeeming the time. How In the parable Jesus taught that the man who buried the talent he was given was called wicked even though he believed in the king. How I need to be faithful with what I am given to hear well done.
Good stuff.

In Sunday School we are studying Jude, and today we discussed the difference between contending for the faith and being contentious. Great discussion.
In the morning church service Art preached about Ahab and the importance of listening to the word of God and standing up for what is right. I can't remember the reference, but if you look up the prophet Micaiah in 1 Kings you'll see a man of God who stood up to the king in the face of hatred and compromise. Good stuff; lots to mull over.
Tonight we continued in our study of Revelation, about the sixth seal judgment and also the sealing of the 144,000 from Israel.

Well, I teach Sunday school but I am learning so much from studying Psalms 23. I'm reading this book about the Psalm that was written by an actual shepherd. I've always loved that Psalm but now it means so much more knowing all the shepherdy things behind it. Being a city girl, I don't know anything about sheep really, so it's been very enlightening. I hope the women in my class find it enlightening too. I tend to be a bit nerdy about Bible study so I'm always really excited to learn something new, and sometimes I get all excited and my ladies look at me sort of weird, but what can you do? lol In church, our pastor started a series on "I love my church." Since I have struggled in recent years with the whole concept of church and what that really means, it was definitely food for thought.

Our message was about embracing our roles as servants. I like how this church doesn't do expository studies (although they are very grounded in the Word), but studies that are topical. I think that they are both good, but, right now, I'm really enjoying the topical studies that feel very relevant to life. I think that both are good, and the Spirit is alive and well, so either has it's place, but I'm enjoying the topical approach that this church has, that feels very relevant to my life right now.

Bronte, is that "A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23" by Thomas Keller? Is that his name? I've never read that book, but I read his book about 1 Corinthians 13 last summer and it was excellent.

Phillip Keller He has another book called "Lessons from a Sheep Dog" - which is exactly what it sounds like, God's lessons to him through a border collie. I read it several years ago, but I just pulled it off my bookshelf after reading this post. I think I'll read it again.

I was helping in nursery in the morning so I only half-caught the message.
In the evening, we have been breaking up into smaller groups to do various things (bible study, homeless ministry, prayer, etc.) We've been doing this 3 weeks now. I've been joining the prayer group. Its the first time since we left Pullman that I've been able to be involved in weekly corporate prayer (due to timing and small children). I used to be involved in a weekly prayer group in Pullman - but that was before kids (started going before marriage actually) - and a time that still worked even after DS was born. In those years, I watched as God did some amazing things. While our church here had corporate prayer times, it just was something that never worked for me with as SAHM with little ones. Of course I still prayed - but I missed that time of prayer with others. I'm really enjoying being able to do that again - and I'm really looking forward to watching God move through our times of corporate prayer.
