you learned something new? What was it? Do you challenge yourself to learn new things?

I read a lot and learn new things that way. Right now I'm reading "1776" by David McCullough and learning a lot about the Revolutionary War. I just finished a book about Roger Williams which was super interesting. He was the founder of Rhode Island and is less well known as being a staunch advocate for separation of church and state long before it was a popular idea.

Moving to this house 3 years ago has presented lots of opportunities for learning new things. Since we've been here I have learned too... - replace a light fixture, an outlet, and a bathroom fan - run a rototiller - shingle a roof (but only on my tiny chicken house - no way I'd be ready to tackle a real house roof with the knowledge I have currently!) - clean out sink drain traps - how to get old stains out of the bottom of a bathtub - how to fix a hose - how to make new window screens - various bits and pieces about gardening in this desert region (mostly by my trial and error) There's probably more. And there will be more. (DH is not really a handy guy - computers yes, around the house/yard not so much. But I enjoy that kind of thing. I've learned from my dad and just by doing it. ) Cooking is always a learning process. New recipes. Healthier options or substitutes. Ways of helping my picky eaters eat healthy (includin DH ) I've progressed in canning in the last couple years - learning to make tomato sauce and tomato soup and raspberry syrup. Work frequently provides new things to learn as well. Just last week I had my first experience dealing with surgery in a ferret. And small kids seem to present opportunities to learn new things. Recently, the kids have gotten very interested in dinosaurs - the realistic part of dinosaurs, not just the cute cartoons and pictures. I realized that I needed to learn more about how dinosaurs fit into a Biblical worldview so that I could teach them rightly. I learned a lot doing some research. And now I can help them learn too. So I guess right now I am just at a stage in life where life itself presents lots of ways to learn new things.

As a means of not dithering away into nothing.....I keep up on daily news, listen to classical music alot while at work, (around 500 hours a yr, I started this last yr), read lots (esp with homeschooling), and now I am trying to exercise, and practice piano more regularly.
Because I stick to one hobby, after 35 yrs, I am now showing some mastery with making quilts. (i really had to stop my self from branching off into scrap booking, photography, knitting, needle point, gardening, etc)

you learned something new? What was it? Do you challenge yourself to learn new things? Well, I'm beginning to try to make asian food. Nothing super fancy, just the basics...general tso, kung pao, burbon chicken... I made general tso's chicken the other night, and kind of messed it up. It wasn't bad. My son took a bite and said that it tasted like chickfila nuggets. lol. So, it tasted good, but not really what I was going for, lol. I'm going to try kung pao chicken next. That's my middle son's, and my, favorite. I only started eating some asian things several years ago, so it's not something that I ever really cooked. But, we get kind of grossed out at the quality of meat at the asian places. My family doesn't really enjoy getting chinese food anymore b/c of that. So, I figure that I can probably make it better at home anyway.

you learned something new? What was it? Do you challenge yourself to learn new things? yesterday I learned the I can assign a new consultant to a starter party that was hosted by someone else, then the host gets the free credit, and the new consultant gets the kit. Almost 5 years of the business and I just learned that the two don't have to be the same person. I like to learn things for my business all the time. Outside of that…sports, movies? I like to learn about those things more but like trying a new thing to learn…time would be needed for such things.

Yesterday I learnt what makes a good newsletter for a business (ie our charity)
Today I've learnt how we can better use digital media to get more people onboard with us.
That said, brain is buzzing with ideas! Hope I sleep hehe
