devices?
We currently stream Netflix through our Wii, but get frustrated with how poorly it streams on there compared to on laptops in our house. We only get local channels besides the Netflix.
Here is what I want to be able to do:
Record shows like Biggest Loser, Amazing Race, and Survival in order to watch at a later time.
Watch Netflix shows w/o aggravation.
Set parental controls on whatever is available to watch (i.e. If we got a smart tv, I'd need to make sure kids couldn't access yucky stuff on youtube or whatever other things they'd have access to).
I don't know enough about smart tvs, TiVo, or roku to speak intelligently about any of them.
Can a smart tv record shows to watch at a later time?
I don't want anything else that you have to pay a montly fee for (like Netflix).

from what I understand it requires a USB stick and doesn't hold a lot at once. Netflix viewing I believe can't be recorded. You can however stream netflix on your computer instead and plug your computer into your TV. You'll have to find a USB to TV cable for that. Wii streaming is the worst, we stream Netflix through our blu-ray player to our TV. but for tv recording we have direct tv with the the whole home genie and have several shows recording all the time through one box for both tvs. I have no idea about recording from basic cable to a smart TV stick parental controls are available but how it set up depends on the device itself and you'll wait to look up for online instructions depending on which smart tv you get.

We don't need to record Netflix.
I want to record shows from NBC, CBS, etc. We do not have cable nor a satellite dish.
