What spoke to you in church this week? Anything stand out? I didn't go this morning. I've had a migraine since last Friday that just won't let go. sigh. Didn't sleep much last night b/c of it. Just wasn't feeling church today. A few of my people went, but I stayed home. Maybe I can learn vicariously.

Ya know, it occurs to me, that I didn't attend a church gathering, but, God did meet me...right here at my desk in my breakfast room.
I was reading in Proverbs this morning, and a few verses stood out to me.
One, in particular, kind of stood out in a fresh way. Proverbs 21:1: "The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; He guides it wherever He pleases." Now, being that I'm not Solomon, and am not a king , I've substituted my name in place of the king. "My heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; He guides it wherever He pleases."
Makes me mindful today of how faithful He is to me...my heart is His and, all that I have to do is lean into Him, and allow Him to direct it wherever He pleases.

We did go.
Our ss class was on prayer... How we pray certain phrases out of habit. Louie giglio series. Started today with asking to be blessed when our blessing was fulfilled on the cross.
The sermon today was on living our lives to the fullest making the most of our dash. How now is the day of salvation and we are to live generously and missionally in this world. Good sermon.. Really excited about the series that started today.

we're in Phillipians. How Paul's circumstances gave him reason to be discouraged and negative, yet - while in prison! he wrote one of the happiest, joyful books of the Bible. applications: despite our pain and problems, if we see it from God's perspective .... He has a plan and it is good. He'll accomplish more through our pain and problems than we could ever think or dream ... look up and focus on him in stead of self.

I spoke at a different church today for the pregnancy center - so I attended but also spoke in service.
The pastor did an excellent job - doing a series in how God relates and instructs us, spoke out of Exodus.

Yes! And YES! Today he presented the question- are you giving out of love or lust? Do you just give to God to get something back? Or is it bc you love him and truly want to serve and bless him. Our pastor is awesome in making me always check myself and adjust if needed. We just came off of a "revival" and so many things just planted into my heart and I learned a lot. Anyways, our church has an app where you can watch the whole service (worship and message) if anyone is interested. . It's on Apple and Droid platforms.

We had the director of a pregnancy center speak this morning before Pastor gave his message. Awesome to hear how God is using the center to reach people!

Our extraordinarily handsome pastor spoke yesterday morning about the dangers of a rebellious heart-- based on the story in 1 Kings about Ahab and Jezebel and the vineyard of Naboth. It was a really challenging reminder to make sure my heart is right before the Lord, and I am not living in rebellion to Him. The results of Ahab's and Jezebel's sin were horrific and far-reaching.
In the evening service he started a series in Revelation, which is always fascinating. It's more of a teaching opportunity on Sunday nights than preaching, and he was discussing the seal judgments in chapter 5 (I think). Very sobering reminder of what this lost world faces, and challenging to be bold in our witness.

I don't speak technology. If it can be watched on a computer or tablet, I could watch it. We have videos of our services online too. I love that.

This last Sunday, the sermon REALLY spoke to me. Our pastor spoke about the talents parable, where the master gave his servants 20, 10 and 1 talent. The 20 and the 10 doubled it, the 1 talent man did nothing. It really touched me. No matter how much the Lord gives us: time, talent, money, gifts, what have YOU done with it for the Lord? It doesn't matter how much he gave you, but what you did with it. Will he say, "Good and faithful servant, or you worthless servant". (paraphrased of course). So, I've been asking myself, "What have I DONE with what God has given me today?" Salvation is not the issue here, but, how much will we be rewarded with in Heaven. I want to please my Lord, not just scrape by.

I want to please my Lord, not just scrape by. And, sometimes, I think that it's all too easy for us to look at what we perceive to be inconsequential and think that we need to wait until we have something worth using for the Lord, or wait until we're in a higher position, or whatever. Which is probably, essentially, a modern day twist of the guy who was given the one talent. We bury them inside of ourselves all too often, not thinking that they're enough to offer.
