i have spent about 9hours working on a quilt today.
mostly ironing and cutting out pieces, some sewing.
i did do some laundry, dishes, and sweeping
i have to compete what i am doing, since i have it all laid out on the bed, and to move it would make it too unorganized to put back together.
(can you tell dh is gone?)

A friend of my son got engaged over the holidays. A nice young couple....both are "country" and laid back, so I think a scrap quilt would be fine as a gift. (think redneck...boots and trucks, mud and animals....farm kids)
as far as colors, it's Every color. I am making 7" squares.....13 rows across 169 squares total, and each square is a different fabric, no repeats. i have reds, yellows, golds, oranges, tans, browns, black, blues, greens purples, etc. lots of deep colors. i have till sept to complete it, but it takes me about 1-1/2 yrs to finish a quilt.
this will be the first full size quilt i have given to someone out of the family. I have made several baby quilts for folks.

The time, skill and energy that go into making one … Sounds like a great day doing something you love!

it does take lots of time.....i spent years volunteering all over the place...pto, co-op's, cub scouts, boy scouts, church camps, and decided that the world wouldn't end if i quit for a while. i find it theraputic to take large pieces of fabric, cut them into small pieces, and sew them back together again. my friends joke that i probably need therapy....but i tell them it's expensive, and so is fabric, so i will buy fabric, and talk to myself.
