I just finished taking a shower and dh started knocking on the door saying he had to get in there. Well, I was getting dressed, so he came hustling in - said he was a mess. I wasn't sure what he meant but when I went back to check on him he was sitting on the floor and said he felt sick. He started with the same respiratory symptoms I had when I had influenza.
Do you get a sick stomach with actual influenza (not the stomach flu, obviously)? I know I felt a bit nauseous the first few days I was coming down with this too, but I always have stomach issues so sometimes I don't know, kwim. :dunno: I always take charcoal and I didn't eat very much either. I hope he doesn't have the stomach flu AND the influenza we've been passing around. Selfishly, I don't want the rest of us to catch it and for him, either, poor guy.
I offered him charcoal but he refused it and I tried to take his temp earlier but he wouldn't let me. :\

We haven't had flu in the house yet, but DH had a stomach virus earlier this week. I didn't think flu usually came with an upset stomach, but everybody's different. The times I've had my family and I have had the flu didn't involve nausea. It is possible to have more than one thing going on at once. My son-in-law caught the flu from my daughter then came down with a nasty sinus infection. He's been sick since before Christmas.
Your DH sounds like a tough patient! I'm praying he feels better soon.

My big concern is he has a game tonight, and he'll probably try to coach it! I'm praying if it is a stomach thing, it will be short lived - like 24 hours or something. I don't think he was up again during the night so I guess that is a good sign, right? I suppose I should go buy him some sprite or ginger ale. I usually keep some on hand but everyone drank up my supply. I have a boat load of work to do today, and tons of laundry. I can't do laundry when it gets super cold because the pipe way down the way freezes up and we have an overflow. I guess I'll try it today and see what happens and hope for the best. (fingers crossed) It's so hard when someone has the stomach flu around here because we only have one bathroom.

He should definitely drink things like ginger ale, eat jello, soda crackers if he can handle solids yet, toast. Just keep things easy on his stomach. If he's trying to coach while sick, remind him that he'll risk infecting his team.
DH's stomach virus lasted for 36 hours. He had to miss work Monday and was feeling better by Tuesday morning. He still felt weak, though.
