I spend a lot of time in my office, and right now I'm typing on my laptop on a tv tray. I really feel like I need to make this space more functional and attractive. So, I was thinking color schemes. I want something cheerful and fun - not stodgy at all, and maybe a little feminine since I'm basically the only person in here and the rest of the house is sort of, well, lived in. So, I was thinking either a light aqua and coral OR tiffany blue and clear red. I'll probably need a neutral in there and I'm not sure what that will be. Thoughts? I would probably paint the walls the tiffany blue or light aqua and use the stronger color in patterns and/or as pops of color.

I'd personally go with a grey on the walls and use accent pieces for pops of color.

I have to be honest - I'm not a big fan of grey. I have friend who did her nursery in grey/white with pops of color and it's very pretty. But I'm just not a grey person. Another neutral suggestion?

I love browns, rusts, and golds, too.
Or white, yellow, and blues

I didn't think I was either until a friend used it. It's almost a beige grey. Not dark and dreary grey. I found a ton of iseas on Pinterest that looked awesome.

If you want to do tiffany blue and red I would do blue walls, white trim, and red accents like curtains, throw pillow, etc.
I have a dream of a combo office/craft room. If we stay living here, never going to happen. No space. But I dream of the same colors on my blog. Sage green, lavender, and a soft blue. I just find it calming and happy.

i always have a problem with selecting paint colors i love, then finding no curtains to match
i suggest you pick out curtains, or fabric, then get paint to match.
i just painted my living room, svelte sage (sherwin williams). with white trim. i love it. i have lots of brown (wood) and leather couch, and dark plaids for pillows
but it would look great with a spring time mix (think pinks, reds, yellows).....or autumn w/ reds, browns, rusts.
i always painted rooms very light, but i love having bolder colors on walls, then soften it up w/ curtains, pillows, prints on walls, etc

if you type in sherwin williams svelte sage, (or any color) then hit image...you will get hundreds of pictures of houses/rooms using that color.
i did that when selecting colors just recently, and it worked out great. it's been almost a decade since we painted, and i really didn't want to choose something that would end up looking off.
i also used (sherwin williams) golden fleece....a dark honey/golden color. it looks very nice. I have dover white, and antique white. (the antique white looks more yellow than what i wanted, but i am keeping it)
