My puppy is seriously freaked out over the vacuum. I've tried slowly pulling it out into the living room..... plugging it in.... waiting etc. She just barks and barks. I put her in another room too. But she can still see me - no door just a gate.
Any tips? I need to get some housework done! (I may just put my ipod in today and do my work)

Well, the dog may have assisted me in this. Came home this morning (I was gone MAYBE 10 minutes) and the dog had dragged a plant throughout the dining room. Dirt and plant pieces everywhere. She then wanted to play chase and ran with the plant in her mouth - thru the dirt around all the furniture. I had no choice but to tether her and vacuum the entire room around her. After quite a few BAD DOG! She got the idea and just sat there as I turned on the vacuum. I know this battle is not over. But I can cross off vacuuming off my to-do list now.

Thank you that's helpful.
We have moved the bottom part of her crate into the house - she's using it as a bed. We're going to slowly transition to the lid going on it - then the door etc.

I know I'm not Bronte, but I'm going through the same thing so I thought that I would share...
Our 7 month old puppy goes nuts barking and biting at the vacuum, too. He has no issues with it sitting in the room, but when I start to move it, even if it's not turned on, he goes crazy. I even tried to vacuum while he was outside playing, and he came and barked at the door.
Anyway, what I've been working on for a couple weeks is keeping a lot of treats (I actually just use his kibble) on me and then feeding him treats as I'm vacuuming as long as he's quiet. I start out with frequent treats for a few seconds of quiet then space them out longer and longer. It's definitely a work in progress, but after a bit the other day, I was able to finish vacuuming the room with him being calm for several minutes.
