She was offered a really great opportunity to work in marketing for a home health care agency. I am not sure if anyone will ever replace her. it will be rough for a while training a new person to do her job and relentless workload. Plus , next Sept, we will be adding on 5th grade to the school..... so 5-8... another 130 kids. I will have 580 kids to manage. Please pray for me ( us)... I am stressed! ( and really sad. She is a gem to work with, and someone I consider a friend, not just a work acquaintance)

Oh my! That does sound stressful - and hard since she is a friend too. Praying for ease of stress for you and everyone involved. Hugs!

That's great for your health office assistant but not so much for the rest of you. It's hard when a co worker and friend leaves to go to another job Praying for you and hoping the person who takes her place will be as compentent and wonderful as her. Wow, you will have a lot of kids under your care. How do you feel about the 5th graders joining you? 5th graders seem soooo young compared to 8th graders. I don't know if I'd want them sharing the same space!

I do not like the idea of the 5th grade coming to our school. Class sizes are a bit smaller now, still not sure how we can accommodate a full grade in our school ( no extra rooms...) The plan is not definite yet... 4th is going to the elementary school b/c the Board of Ed offices there currently will likely go to the 4/5 school that is closing, so there is room to put classrooms. PRAYING that 5th goes there also.... They will need a 2nd RN or at least another health assistant there. You are right, Jan....5th is SO different than 8th.... even having 6th and 8th in the same school is tricky. They are in a separate wing , but still... If i were a parent of a current 5th grader I would not like that idea.

Our school district does 5-6 at a middle school and 7-8 a a junior high (which are technically different campuses but it is really on the same property.) They 5th graders also ride the bus with all the older kids up to 12th grade. Also, all the the district students will be together for the first time in middle school, instead of spread out at various elementary schools.
DS starts 5th grade next year. He's been in a really small elementary school in the district up until then - small classes, 2 classes/grade, kind of a closeknit community of students/parents/teachers/staff. I'm not ready for him to move up next year!

Today was her last day! It was hard. Next few weeks I will have the assistance of the other 3 schools health assistants for a day , and 1 day a sub will fill in, and 1 day I will be alone. They will hopefully hire a long term sub. I school is closing, so we will wait to see what that brings. Hoping it brings that elementary school health assistant to ME!!! ( we have worked well together in the past.It would be ideal b/c she knows the protocol, the paperwork , the routine...) Please pray that this happens. It would be teh easiest as far as training for me and transitioning for her. Thanks!!
