So I"m working on short term goals since I have already set my long term goal and I have a question. Is this a "smart" goal: By the end of January I will fit comfortably into a pair of jeans? I already have the jeans picked out, they currently fit but they look like I am poured into them and they aren't nice looking on me. I know you can "spot reduce" but still, in theory this is something that would be measurable and attainable right?
Would any one care to share some of their short term goals either current or past?

I had goal pants, took about 6 weeks. Have you measured? How many inches would you need to lose? Waist? Hips? Thighs? Squats, stretching, lunges and just solid walking should be good start.

I need to lose it mainly in the thighs and walking is the base for my current exercise plan (my current thinking has me mainly walking for 6-8 weeks and then moving to more strength training hopefully). I'm guessing at least an inch would need to be loss for them to not be the way they are now.

Even if it didn't get you all the way there, it'd be a really good start. Since you're already in them, they just fit too tightly, you might be able to do it in a month. :dunno:
Have you ever tried pilates? The leg parts of pilates can help your thighs. My thighs are where I gain weight first too.
I'm not sure what my goals are. hmmm. Like you, I want my pants to fit a little better. I want to lose 10 pounds. My injuries have not helped me, plus my busy schedule this past fall was hard to manage my main exercise every day.

I need to slim my belly a lot! I'm currently much larger around the belly (than my legs are in my jeans size).
