One thing that sometimes gets me up and moving is a particular Irish instrumental song that is both energetic and a favorite. I know that's not exactly a normal motivator. But this particular song just helps me get going. "Drowsy Maggie" www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIHI49JQ7zY

Something more "practical" I just remembered. Time of day.
I tend to find it easier to be most productive first thing in the morning. I try to get most thing the "have to do" things done before lunch. As I think about it, that is just when its easiest for me to stay on task to get things done. I tend to be more laid back in the afternoons.
My DH is just the opposite. It used to drive me nuts actually, that he wouldn't start anything productive until far later in the day. But reality is, by the time he gets going, that's when I'm winding down. For him, late mornings and afternoons are just when he gets things done best.

Also, my dh is the same. I am more productive in the AM , generally… He doesn't get started on weekends until 1 or 2… To me, the day is over!! LOL.

it was very "peppy" and I tried to "beat the clock" and finish a couple things before the song was over!

Thinking about everything that needs to be done takes so much mental energy. Just getting done is almost always faster than fretting about what needs to be done. I'm a recovered procrastinator because I don't like the burden it causes.

Something that works well for me, especially with bigger projects is visualizing it finished.
For example, now that summer's almost here (Amen. Praise the Lord. Thank you, Jesus.) I'm getting ready to purge my closet big-time. I want simplicity. I want space between clothes. All the clothes I'm not even wearing, mind you.
I get rid of things all the time, but I still hang on to too much.
The thing that's driving me (I've started, but don't have time to get in there and attack it completely yet) is -- I can see it when it's done.
I can see walking into it and having the freedom of that simplicity.
I do that a lot with big projects -- visualization. Not on purpose, just the way my mind works, I guess.
-----
As far as regular to-dos, I normally use a bullet planner, although I haven't been using it as much this month. (It works by lists, and lists work well for me b/c I can't remember a blessed thing anymore.)
I guess motivation for me a lot of times comes from pleasing my people. I like seeing them comfortable and fed, etc. so I keep that in mind. (But, I guess that's an end-result thing too, just like the closet is.)
I'm just dragging myself through right now, begging summer to come on already. One more week of school. Glory be to God.
