Life has been pretty hectic and then this week I had 48 essays (really BAD essays) to grade! I was up until 11:30 last night getting them done, and then I had to finish up about 7 more that were late today. But, finally, I am all done! AND, these are the LAST batch of essays I will have to grade for the year! Yippeee!!!!!  We have had rain all week, so I haven't been all that productive. All I want to do is nap and read! lol But I am going to clean my house today - right after I take a short power nap!  Hope everyone is doing well! What are you up to today? |

Just got in from work. Long week, but off tomorrow!!!!
Bombarded with field trip preparation, and we have the entire 6th grade out all week for a field trip.
Several big issues popped up today I am off to vacuum, and walk the dog… or vice-versa…
Oh, have to call the "college board". Trying to get ds2 signed up for his SAT's and the site will not let me continue. Saying that he signed up to take tests earlier. Can't get any further…. Frustrating.

I figured out the issue. He was signed up by the Guidance Dept ( the class was signed up all together ) for SAT's taken in school. He has been out of school for the year, and did not take the SAT's with his class…. THEY ( the school)   had the registration number, and the representative was kind enough to share with me . Now I can sign him up . Hopefully!!! |

That sounds like punishment! UGH! Well, it certainly wasn't encouraging since I have spent the last 2 months on all the parts of an essay, practicing each part and writing smaller parts. The level of bad on some of the essays was truly awful - especially my 8th graders who will be going into high school next year. I guess you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.  |

As a hs mom - I always hired a tutor to grade and do writing with my sons. It just made life easier, and it wasn't me being critical.
With that - I read a long long time ago, if you hear the English language spoken often, and well, then it will become habit, and part of how you think, so you will then write well. I ran with that thought - and did thousands of audio books with my kids.
I think this younger generation does so much FB or txting, and read snippets of paragraphs, that they think the same way.
Good for you for doing all those essay's. They need to be ready for highschool.
