I replaced my zip (which I hadn't been using for a long time) with an alta. Does anyone else have the alta? I've had it for a few weeks now and am loving it. I doubt I'll make much impact on the leader board though. (I can't see it from my phone, so I don't even know where I am, and that's a good thing. haha.) I don't have time right now to be very competitive, so I won't be breaking anyone's records anytime soon. Ever since I started writing more seriously, it's taking up so much of my time and...writing = sitting. I'm not used to being so inactive and I hate it. I finally talked myself into the fitbit, not so I can see how much I'm moving, but so I can see how much I'm not moving. (And, therefore get up and move!) I don't really know how to use the challenge thing with Julie's challenge this week, but when I looked at it earlier, it was fun to see y'all's names again. Maybe I'll have time to figure it out a little better before long. I'm just plugging along doing my thing, so I probably won't be a lot of competition for y'all -- but, then again it's a challenge and not a competition -- and challenge means support not competition, right? If anyone's thinking about going for the alta, it's working well for me so far. (I couldn't find any pricing difference anywhere, but I was able to get it at kolhs when they were having cash back and got $30 off.) (By getting $30 cash back.) Hope everyone is doing well with their fitness goals. Happy stepping (and all-things-fitness) to y'all. ((xoxo))

I think mine is an Alta.
Moving vs. how much you're not moving. I wasn't expecting that from the fitbit. But it really makes you realize how much you're not moving around doesn't it. I'm trying to use more of the functions on there. Water intake, sleep etc.
I haven't done a challenge in a long time.

I use the water function, and I do look at the sleep log every day, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. It's probably more accurate for someone whose sleep patterns are more regular than mine are. It'll tell me I went to sleep long before I did. I think it's calculating all the time it takes me to get to sleep as "light sleep." It is interesting info, but with my sleep issues, I'm probably not the best person to use it as a sleep monitor. It's interesting to see where my deep sleep times are though. Which is less than an hour a night, though. I don't use the food function though. I probably would if I didn't have to write in the calories and all that. I'd have to figure it out for everything before I logged it. That seems like a lot of work.

I just got the charge 2. Inputting food online is easy. Doing it on my phone is not... At least for me. Maybe I'm missing something. I've only had it less than a week so we are still getting acquainted...
I have a wedding in August to attend and it will be a bit of a family reunion.... Time to get focused and lose weight!!!!

I have a fitbit. Dh immendately added me to his group.....and I found it very weird.....one of dh's friend's daughter was in the group. Thinking that I knew this 20 something girl and how much she walked daily weirded me out.
I was on the group for a week last summer (the week I was at camp and walked 10 miles a day for 6 days in a row !!!).....one of dh's friends said I was lost. But I said I was looking for the flush toilet.
After that week, I got off that group.
Now I wear it sometimes all day, other times just when I walk.
I have a goal of doing a 20 mile hike before my 54th bday this fall.
I have been doing lots of 5 mile walks, and a few 8-10 mile walks

Yakky, you are gettin' it girl. ((clap)) I have a deadline driving me too, but I don't want to say what it is on a public board. Lucy, that's wonderful! Great job. I've mostly been keeping it between 10,000-12,000 steps a day right now, but occasionally I walk 16,000-17,000. My highest ever in a day was 60,000. My feet were hurting! I can't figure out how to search/add people. Debbie, I can't figure it out either. I clicked something where it said I could add, but then it wanted facebook info or something? I don't know. I know I have y'all on fb, so maybe I just need to login to fb and it'll let me add you? (But, Yakky you don't have fb anymore, right? And, Lucy -- you don't either, right?) If y'all figure out how, add me. I'm bcbo on fitbit. I've lost 4.5 pounds in the last few weeks, so I guess the diet changes and the moving more are helping. I still have 10 more to go. Happy walking, y'all.

I am contemplating a FitBit…
Is it easy to use??? I am electronics-challenged. If it frustrates me, I know I won't get enough out of it, thus not worth the $$.
I don't understand how it works, I guess…
But, I need to lose 50 + lbs for health reasons.
Thanks for any input you may have

Not quite sure it's worth the price, but I like mine. I think they set their prices like apple does or something ... (was in the middle of replying to this when my son came over.) As I was saying, they have a standard for their pricing or something, I think. Everywhere I've ever looked had equivalent prices. But, I was able to get $30 cash back at least by buying it at Kohls. (So, basically costing $120 instead of $150.) I like it. I haven't met my goal the last two weeks because I was at a conference and then recovering from the conference. Gotta get back to it this weekend. I track my water and sometimes my calories with it as well. Mine will buzz every hour at 10 minutes before the next hour in I haven't walked at least 250 steps that hour. (I think you can set it to be whatever # of steps you want, or turn that feature off all together.) I think it's helpful for reminding me of my goals. My goal is 10,000 steps a day (you can set it to whatever you want your goal to be.) But, I try to go over. Many days, I don't go over though. (And the last two weeks, I've barely hit it once.) Let me know what your name is on there if you get one -- so I can add you. I'm the biggest loser in the challenges the last two weeks, I'm sure. Haha.
