I'm in. I went here last week: Swallow Cliff toboggan slide stairsI was only able to make it up the stairs once. And it was a struggle. I'm challenging myself to do 2 flights next week. And keep going from there. I'm embarrassed as to how much I've let myself go. Hitting the indoor walking track later today since it's going to be raining. I need to make a schedule of the open swim days at the high school. Dd & I went last week and it was fun doing laps.

I started roller skating at a skate club hosted by a member of a roller derby team! (My 15 yo skates with a jr. roller derby and came with) I had so much fun. But WOW what a workout. We're planning on going every Monday night. I also have a membership to an indoor walking track. I try to go at least 3 times a week. Tuesday I added some "jogging" to my routine. How is everyone else doing?

I have a spark people account but I don't really use it as I should. I'd say i have 2 good days a week which isn't nearly enough. I got the ultimate homemakers bundle and so I'm going to try the fit2b program that was part of it. It focuses on rebuilding your core which I know I need work on

May 1st is the start of my journey... Going off sugar and reducing carbs and increasing the steps... I started tracking my food and calories... But that doesn't usually last real long....haha

My oldest dd (19) and I are doing a sugar free challenge together. (I am secretly reducing carbs in our meals Shhh!) Trying to pack lunches for her to take to school and something healthy for work. She has a bad habit of eating when she gets home from work which is after 10pm. I need to have something healthy for her to grab. I was enjoying the Noosa yogurts for breakfast. The sugar is insane in them! Guess that's gone.

When you count sugar - do you count carbs ? When I became a diabetic - I went to nutritional counseling at the hosp. I was basically put on the weight watchers diet of 1500 calories a day, or 150 carbs. What I have learned from lots of reading and from other diabetics.....
When I stuck to this 1500 calories a day diet - I couldn't loose weight. I was so frustrated. I was weighing food, measuring food, hungry all the time.
When I changed my method - and decided to only count carbs.....I started loosing weight. Since I was allowed 150 carbs, I tried to go for 100 carbs (give or take)......and only counted carbs. Meat, butter, vegetables I didn't count. I ate them as much as I wanted. Very similar to all those low carb diets. When I cut carbs (cut bread, cut flour, cut pizza dough, etc). I started loosing wtg. I used to joke that I was on the bacon diet.
I need to get back to that again.

I'm gluten free so I opt not to eat bread or other grains anyway. I'd rather go without than to use a GF version. I don't count carbs in veggies. I could do the bacon diet! Are you able to control your diabetes with diet, Lucy? Or do you have to take insulin?

I've always heard that to count carbs you count the net carbs meaning total minus fiber. When you do that you will find that you really don't need to count a lot of the veggies and not a lot of the fruit.
