What are some things that are generally household staples but that you rarely need to buy?
For instance, we just bought a box of toothpicks a week or so ago. It is the first time in 11 1/2 years of marriage that we have bought that. The ones we are nearly out of I bought early on in my college years when I was living alone - probably in late 2000.
What about you?

Really? I am impressed. I am not a friend to the environment… I buy easily 6 rolls/ month.

I rarely buy paper towels either. I use them only to clean eggs from my chickens (so daily use there - hopefully!). Otherwise they are just for gross messes - like cat puke. Or occasionally disposable "plates" for quick car snacks. I do buy them more than toothpicks though!

baking soda seems to last forever
I discovered "Worcestershire Sauce" tonight. I think we've bought that once in the time that I've been married and I bought it once before that during college.

Plastic utensils? We bought a pack of 500 spoons years ago for a science project-still have about 200?

baking supplies....I couldn't even tell you how old my flour, sugar, salt, baking soda/powder are...they are all super old I'm sure. I think I've purchased toothpicks twice in the year...more than flour hahahaha clearly I don't bake!
the other thing I rarely but is fresh potatoes...sure I get tots and fries frozen but only dh eats potatoes so really there's just no point to having them

I buy lots of baking soda. I buy it in the bulk section and I buy it every couple of months. I buy vinegar really often too. I rarely buy meat because we always have beef or deer. Dh sometimes gets chicken from work. The only meat I ever have to buy is fish or shrimp.
