I came across a new-to-me word this morning: inexpugnable. Looked it up to make sure I'd guessed the meaning correctly (I was pretty close).
What have you learned lately? New word, new skill, new factoid, new understanding about humanity...?

I'm making a list of things I want to do, learn or experience this year. I turn 50 in September. My goal is to complete 50 things before then.
I'm currently taking a cake decorating class - buttercream. I just signed up for the royal icing class which makes those cool flowers & things.
I just attended my first painting party where you paint a canvas. Not happy with my work, but enjoyed the process & fellowship.
Some things are simple, like a sunrise hike. Others will make me go outside my comfort zone. Like running a 5K or trying to paddleboard.

DH and I learned how to change the headlight bulb on our dodge dakota this weekend. What a pain! Two people, a you-tube how-to video, and 2 different sized socket wrenches later... Made me miss my my old ford ranger - changing a headlight (any light) was so obvious and simple on that truck. The dakota was ridiculously complicated!

I also learned a lot in the book I just finished about the Japanese-American family that went through the internment camps during WWII. Some of my reading prompted me to search out more information. One thing I was curious about was how far inland the "military zone" (from which Japanese-Americans were removed) extended. Some sources claim that the crest of the Cascade Mountains (which divide Washington and Oregon into western and eastern parts) was the line - with the western half being military zone and the eastern half not. But I have learned that this is not quite true. The area of central Washington (just east of the Cascades) that I live in now also was in that zone and Japanese-Americans from the communities in and surrounding the area I now live in had to leave as well. Even my DH (who grew up here) did not know that...a forgotten piece of history...

I am reading a book about the civil war....learning lots of little facts.
I am also making a quilt top - and I have learned (knew it before, but forgot, and learning it again)....when cutting and sewing sawtooth stars, make the flying geese bigger, and trim down to size, and you will get more accurate piecing.

that I read so fast that I missed the first page of my online class that said I will need to spend 15 online hours in the first section...I did it all in under 5 hours and have now spent 10 hours of review...over and over and over again. Apparently I study and learn faster than normal (this I knew...I flew through some classes in college and such).

Bummer though that you have to keep going over it again and again to get the time in.
