I am thinking of joining our local quilting guild.
I have never joined anything like this....

I thought about joining our quilting guild, but I went to two different meetings as a visitor and literally NO ONE talked to me. Since part of my thinking was that joining would let me connect with other quilters and make friendships, it really didn't seem like a good fit! Hopefully yours is better...and I've also heard that people (at ours) are more friendly in the smaller groups for various activities.
I am thinking of joining the North American Quilling Guild though. That one will be more about accessing their resources (newsletter and such) and maybe going to their annual convention. There's no local group of quillers here as far as I know.

I do two writing ones. Compel and Hope writers. I don't do anything local, not even Bible studies right now. I'd like to, but this working mama thing is kicking my butt. If I added anything else right now, I might just have a conniption. A quilting one sounds good. Those types of things always seem easier when someone can show me how to do it. Reading patterns make my head spin.
