I tried to make camping reservations for next summer.....and their website says completely full.
really? Do people really make their reservations this early? This is the first time ever I have tried to make plans in advance.....and finding it very difficult.
I am looking for a tent camp site, at a campground that has lots of extras....pool, playground, creeks and trees...etc. And thought I had found the perfect one....

A lot of people book for certain weekends before leaving for the summer. It's possible that they haven't opened the reservations for the new season yet too. You also might have better success calling and talking to a person (as oppose to trying to do it online).

I have tried calling, and emailing, and online website.
Now I am looking for something (anything similar) within a 40 mile radius

That seems highly unlikely that they would be booked for the whole summer all ready. Tent sites are getting harder and harder to come by, a lot of campgrounds have gone to rvs. The campground we use does allow tents are Rv sites but obviously you will pay a little more because of having sewer, water and electrical available. We liked having that stuff right at our site but that is us. What area are you looking?

Dh is taking the scouts to a specific camp in Colorado......near a small town. I was hoping to find something, also near the same small town, so we could meet up a couple times that week for dinner in town, and so my married sons could go hiking with the scouts, and I could sit the grandkids.
The campground I found seemed ideal....pool, playground, showers, putt putt, arcade room, creek, trees, on the edge of woods....lovely.
Now I am finding campsites, but no play ground, or no pool, or over 100 miles away.....
I am not as thrilled with renting a house in town, it would be a short walk to the park, but no pool.....a hotel would have a pool.....but not a place to hang at night.
I am trying to plan a 4-5 family thing so different folks have different needs

A mistake I made recently was not changing the year on the calendar search for our local state parks. Could that be the issue?
