Nieces (5 1/2 and 2 1/2) are getting kid's umbrellas - SIL said that's what they've been asking for recently. Since they live in western Oregon, they'll get good use I'm sure. Actually, my DD is getting an umbrella too (nieces are getting girly pink or purple ones though - my dd is getting batman! LOL!) I got DS a superman umbrella just before school started for him to use at the bus stop. I picked up one for DD at that time and saved it for her for Christmas. Grandparents are each getting a photo book of grandkids - praise for free photo book coupons! DH just put together a new computer (bought the parts and put it together). He ended up going over his saved amount by a bit so he wanted that for Christmas. Ok. He's hard to buy for anyway so that works just fine! We haven't exchanged gifts with my brother in a few years now - we stopped when both of us had tight finances. He does usually get something for our kids though - he doesn't have any kids. I am sending a gag gift/inside joke gift with his Christmas card this year though. For years I used to give in the oldest, yukiest golf ball I could fine in his stocking or sent it to him when we were both no longer at home. I haven't done it for a long time. But when my parents moved and were unpacking, my mom found an old yucky golf ball that actually would have come from the house we grew up in. So I had to do it this year! We are also not exchanging with SIL/BIL this year. Just the kids in our respective families now. No one could figure out what they wanted. and the things we do want are just not practical for Christmas gifts (home projects, etc.) We decided it was a good time to just go to kids. My kids. Combination of things that I found free or cheap, things that were given to us and a few things they asked for or I knew they would like. Among them are... Both are getting a photo book of a couple of special trips we took this spring - some of the pictures in them are ones they took themselves. Yay again for free photo book coupons! They are also getting a memory game made up of cards that have pictures of the various pets we have /have had during their lifetimes - yay again for free stuff! DS will be getting a kid's camera with a waterproof box that he can use under water or mount on his bike. DD is getting the weirdest one - she wanted a stuffed warthog - yes, a stuffed WARTHOG! I actually found one on Amazon that was fairly inexpensive. LOL!

Kids (26, 23, 23) are getting new pajamas, flannel shirts, little debbie christmas tree cakes (tradition), crocheted nose warmer with $100 inside. DS1 is also getting a Tshirt with a Corgi on it (he loves them). DS2 is getting a book about Elon Musk. DD is getting Cards Against Humanity.
I bought DH a heated throw today AND gave it to him because he said his was broken. His office is freezing. But today his old one worked. So, I think he's getting an extra large, jumbo cup for his evening tea.
I have a handful of extended family children to buy for. I got stuff for them from Hollar.com a couple months ago.......and I don't remember what I got!
We bought my Mom an ipad last summer so that was her Christmas gift. I also pay for her cell phone so that gets wrapped in too.
Mil? No clue. She needs nothing except some logic and good decision making ability and I can't find that in a store anyway. I leave that ONE gift to DH. Last year he gave her a gift card to a fancy theatre here in the city.

Our anniversary is Dec 18th so dh and I pick just one event to give gifts. This year we aren't giving for either. But I did get an amazing gift for mother's day just a couple weeks ago.

I think for us some of it is a holdover from our life prior to kids. Its definitely been pared down over the years - stopping gifts with SIL/BIL is the most recent. On our side, the kids are all 7 or under - 2 nieces and our 2 with DS being the oldest. I suspect that as the kids all get older, gifts to nieces will stop too - especially since there are multiple kid cousins on SIL/BIL's side (on our side it is just their kids). Grandparents (and in the past great-grandparents but there are none left now...) get grandchildren pictures - usually just a small photo album with a handful of pictures, although a couple of times I've been able to find free photo books. Some of these we have gotten back as great-grandparents (and 1 grandpa) have passed away - I have given them to my kids when that happens. This may or may not change change as kids get older (my kids are my parent's only grandkids, my inlaws have others besides ours.) Our extended family is pretty small so that makes things more possible. But I'm open to whatever changes may or may not happen over time.

In years past, there have been times when I wished we didn't have such a long list because it was a huge strain on our budget. Thankfully, it's easier now. However, I think I need to start a bit earlier! I just got most of everything done yesterday and that's a bit too close for comfort for me since Christmas is next week! Yikes!!!

For the teachers, we got these special insulated cups that keep stuff cold or hot forever. -- We gave the male teachers a large one, and the female teachers a smaller one and I made a dishcloth that we put inside each of the female ones. Oldest is getting a bass guitar. And, a hands-free GPS thing. I didn't want to make that a Christmas gift, but my husband said we should since it's Dec. (I didn't want to b/c I didn't want to set a precedent of $$.) Middle son is getting a tablet -- and same GPS. Youngest is getting xbox one, and a scope (airsoft gun thing). Husband is getting a keurig. (Is that how you spell that?) -- He's never really wanted one b/c he doesn't love the taste of the cup things and he likes to grind his own coffee, but this one came with the cup thing that you can use your own coffee with. I think it'll be helpful for him to be able to make hot coffee anytime of day, (which he's normally having to reheat coffee in the microwave). Hopefully he likes it. I think the boys will like it, at the very least. I think my husband will like it, though. I know some of the stuff the kids got each other and their dad, but I guess I won't list all that. I also got a big box of beef jerky for each of the boys. (and my brother). The kind we like is sold in Kentucky. We only lived there for six months, but fell in love with this beef jerky company. Here is the link, if anyone's interested: www.minguabeefjerky.com/ -- good stuff with no preservatives. And, some other minor things plus stocking stuffers. (And, I just bought myself the simply fit board. Hope it's good. ) Not really a christmas gift, but makes me feel better for buying it right now since it's the week before christmas and we are bleeding $ at the moment. )
