I know my older one will receive a new make-up compact... probably some razors... but I still can't figure out what the younger one would want.
ACK!

I was actually having trouble figuring out the "big" (read most exciting, not expensive!) gift for my not quite 5 yo dd.
The ONLY thing I could get her to tell me she wanted was a list of various stuffed animals. "Toy Warthog" was said at least 3 times (one of those to my mom) over the times I asked her. So that's what she's getting - a really ugly (IMO) stuffed toy warthog that I found on Amazon. She actually saw a picture of it on Amazon because I wanted to make sure she'd really like it. She thought it was "cute" so that's what she's getting - she just doesn't know I am actually getting it for her. I guess "cute" is in the eye of the beholder!

Does she like crafts? I think it's the klutz company that puts out pretty neat craft kits.

How about card games? Skip bo, phase 10 and uno are popular with the kids

How about card games? Skip bo, phase 10 and uno are popular with the kids If they are into strategy-type games, board games like "Ticket To Ride" or "Settlers of Catan" could be fun. (If they're not into strategy games, I'd stick with more basics like the card games mentioned above - they are all fun but just different.)

ACK! Does it need to fall into a certain type of gift?

If you are okay with gift cards, I'd probably give her money to spend on etsy. My girls (14, 10, 6) could bankrupt me with their etsy wishes!

Are they readers? Books? Music? (however kids that age listen to music these days) They both play instruments, and I've purchased them music in the past. I'm thinking about getting them a "WOW" cd, or something... that's helpful. Does she like crafts? I think it's the klutz company that puts out pretty neat craft kits. One of them does... the other, not so much. They don't 'do' a lot of crafty stuff, though. How about card games? Skip bo, phase 10 and uno are popular with the kids We own all of these, and they'll take them on camping trips, but not really "just to play". I know my older one will receive a new make-up compact... probably some razors... but I still can't figure out what the younger one would want.
ACK! Does it need to fall into a certain type of gift? Well, we do 3 gifts that fall into:
Gold - Their "one big gift" that they'd really like (used to be a toy, but now, not so much) Frankincense - Something to enhance their relationship with God... the WOW cd would work... or a new devotional book for girls. Myrrh - Something for the body. They like "fluffy socks", but I'm thinking DD1's make-up compact would work.
In looking at this, I'm really just "short' their "one big gift request".
If you are okay with gift cards, I'd probably give her money to spend on etsy. My girls (14, 10, 6) could bankrupt me with their etsy wishes! I am. They each have a couple of places they like... I just didn't want to get stuck with 'only' gift cards. However, I could do a couple of them and that could really work... especially if we can't figure out anything else. Even their Kindle headphones are in good working order - LOL! I figured that by now they'd need a new set of those - LOL!
