These exams are NOT supposed to hurt, correct?
I don't really think that it is my eyeball that is hurting so much as maybe the muscle that it is connected to.
Fortunately it is not terribly painful, just annoying.
But it did ruin my evening last night as it's all that I could think about .... so I wore myself into fatigue.
Anyway ...
I had a prescription to get glasses from my April exam, and I needed to do that before yesterday ... since obviously I hadn't taken care of it earlier.
I wasn't terribly happy with the 2.25 corrective script that the dr. gave, since I wear 2.75 "cheater" glasses for magnification ... since I do a lot of sewing & close up work. I had asked @ the office if they would re-check me, and while they said yes, I frankly never got around to it. This Dr. is an MD ... my ins. always pays under the medical benefit because chemo threw my vision into where it now is. I can't see close up.
So ..... I go earlier this month to buy glasses & @ the optical place where we go (for glasses),
I told them that I'd like the script to be a bit stronger & the dr. (optician, I think) himself comes out to talk to me & says sure, that he'd be happy to recheck me, but I'd have to make an appt.
So ... I did. Not a problem, because our vision benefit would pay for this they said (I had a small co-pay).
Darn if the "assistant" didn't try to "make me" sit through an entire, very thorough exam.
I refused, but the Dr. told her it was ok for me to refuse certain things.
Anyway ... he checked my eyes, and in fact, did move my script up to a 2.5.
After, he said if he could look into my eyes with his bright light.
I was ok with that.
I don't know if the bright light or me having to move my eyes in all directions has caused the discomfort that I am feeling in my one eye.
Like I said, it is very annoying.
Not terribly painful, though I can certainly feel this.
My eye isn't watering or anything, it's just sore.
If this keeps up 'til tomorrow I'll call my MD eye dr. & ask.
But what do you think?
I've had my eyes checked every year since chemo & this is the first time I've had this happen.
It's also the first time I've had an Optician give me an exam.
Definitely causes me to re-thinking using him again for an exam.
..... sigh ......
Have you ever had this happen?
I hope it's nothing.
