As you know Brody is an artist. I wrote a children's book and he said he would illustrate it. I thought it would be a win-win. I would get illustrations; he would get his name on a published book. It is NOT a picture book, so really I need a black and white sketchy type drawing at the beginning of each chapter, a cover and ideally maybe 4-5 larger drawings that would take up a page. I have since given up on the 4-5 larger drawings.
We talked about this back in the spring. He doesn't like that the book is about guinea pigs because he says they are hard to draw. We went and took pictures of guinea pigs and my cousin's little girl. I printed out the book and listed what I wanted for each chapter.
He has drawn exactly one small sketch.
It's been over 6 months.
I told him I wanted it done by the end of September. I also told him if he did not want to do it, to tell me because I would need to find another solution. It is honestly NOT cost effective for me to pay a lot of money for pictures because I will be hard to even break even. I made about $75 with my quiz books after taking the cost of the software I used into account.
I was going to make this a series of books about June and August. I wanted to do one for Halloween and one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas, but sinc he hasn't done even really started on the first book, I didn't want to waste my time if I can't get illustrations. I'm considering asking a friend of mine to see if he would draw me a cover, and then see if I can use some photo editing software to get my small chapter sketches.
It is now mid-October. I at least wanted it out for Christmas. Brody apparently thinks that mean he has UNTIL Christmas to get it done. I explained to him that wouldn't work. He keeps saying he is going to do it, but he isn't.
Would you just go ahead and do something different instead of waiting anymore? I'm very frustrated!!!

I guess I needed to just be more blunt. I kind of felt like he was helping me out, so I didn't want to come down to hard on him.
