I think going to Isle Royal National Park in MI looks cool......
and I have several state parks in WV, NC, TN on my pinterest page.... I figure I might actually get to some of these.
And I would love to see the Redwoods.

yes. right now we don't have any big plans except to figure out when we'll travel to see my family in San Diego. If could be Christmas break or Spring Break.
I plan more for my business trips. I'll be in Dallas next August and possibly Detriot in January.
we know that in a year or two we want to travel to Disney World and Universal with the boys. just have to figure out timing and money.

The only thing I think in store for the relatively near future would be to "play tourist" in Seattle. I haven't done any "touristy" stuff in Seattle since probably about 2004 - I grew up nearby so we did touristy things there on occasion. Our kids have not yet had that chance yet. They want to do the Space Needle and ride the Monorail. I haven't been to the Seattle Aquarium for years. We also want to do Woodland Park Zoo. We've taken both kids to the Portland Zoo and DS (when he was little) to Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, but I haven't been to Woodland Park since I was a kid (DH too), so we both want to do that one. (I also want to do one called "Northwest Trek" but that's not really Seattle and is actually a little closer to us time-wise.) Seattle is about 3ish hours from us. We're just waiting until the kids are a little bigger - and of course for there to be money available to do the things we want.

Every February we do something. The past 3 years were Los Angeles, Disney World, and Medellin, Colombia. We're still trying to decide on this February's. I'm thinking strongly about Belize. We've been before but never for an extended stay.

Since my cancer, a trip to the caribbean every year is a set destination for us. DH loves it! He didn't go as often as I went with my mom ... so it's a super blessing to me that he LOVES to do this with me.
We're going down this year on Dec. 29 thru 1st week of Jan.
Seeing the redwoods has been on our list of things to see & do ... & go to Victoria, Canada. DH was supposed to get business trips to the pacific NW (& I could go) ... then all that got cancelled when the co. said 'no travel.' Now DH is traveling to CA (he's there now) but it's 1 week till the wedding + I just started working again, so I didn't get to go.
We're hoping maybe in Dec. I can go since DH has to go back in Nov & Dec. I could take time off work w/o pay, maybe.

And I would love to see the Redwoods. I researched and pitched an article idea on that (didn't get it but it sure was fascinating talking to the person who did a thesis on it!). I'd like to go to all the National parks eventually!

Italy is definitely a biggie for us though I don't know when it'll ever happen. DC is one we are looking forward to next August (and hoping plans don't fall through - it is group thing with about 6 other hs families). I'd also really like to do Niagara Falls & Grand Canyon. We're planning cruises with our parents for their 50th anniversaries (since each set has reasons that a big party wouldn't work well) one will be in 4 years & the other 6 years.

We are not big travelers. Mostly we travel to visit family. We keep trying to plan a trip to Indiana to visit extended family, but that's a longer than usual trip for us and we haven't made it happen yet.

How do you adjust to not having all the kids with you on vacations anymore? Do you ever try to plan them around when your family might be able to go? Thinking of vacationing isn't easy for me right now b/c it's just weird not having everyone together. I love the time we have alone with our youngest, but still need to learn how to do this grown-kids thing. (A little aside on that note, how does one cook for three? I have to relearn that way of life. Life evolved into cooking for three teen boys...that happened over time, now this feels abrupt, trying to learn how to cook less again...) I'm hopeful that once things settle down and everyone has predictable schedules/lives we can try to coordinate an annual trip to the beach or trip to the mountains or whatever. Just some place where we can all meet and vacation together. In reality, this would probably only be able to happen every few years, but I'll take it. I don't know how to be a family of three...or soon, two. Why must time be in such a race...slow down, Father Time, would ya? We'd love to go to the Western US. And to see New Orleans.
