I think I told you the story about my daughter & I finding her wedding gown ... believing that my mom is present throughout the wedding process.
Today while having lunch, the waitress saw my daughter & I looking @ wedding gown photos on my phone (these were photos of my daughter).
She had her FINAL fitting today. The wedding is in 18 days.
That led to us sharing the story of finding my daughter's gown .... & my mom's presence with us ... & the waitress said, "you HAVE to share that story @ your daughter's wedding with the guests.
Um, ok. Yeah, it'll be FUN. I thought my daughter should put something about the story on the back of the wedding program but she didn't want to do that.
As simply as I can say this .... we looked & looked for a gown for DD ... she had specifications re: what she wanted, what we felt flattered her, etc.
We found the gown online. Beautiful. Designers tend to "name" their gowns.
Then began the search "for the gown" locally.
We found a strapless version of it (same designer), but dd's gown has a beautiful (modest) bodice.
She tried on the strapless version & loved it, but wanted the bodice.
So we ordered the dress.
Had NO idea what the back of the dress looked like ... praying it would be "good." It was.
The name of the gown is my mother's name (first & middle). The style # of the gown contains make 6-8 #'s of which 4 of those #'s is my mom's birthdate!!! I was blown away.
I used to joke with my mom that she HAD to live long enough to see my girls marry bc we'd need her help choosing a wedding gown ... & gee, while we're at it, mom could just pay for the gown too (I know that she would have loved to do that).
Now I won't say anything in a toast about having mom pay for the gown (LOL), but the fact that the gown is my mom's name & birthdate is just beautiful.
When my dad died, this past April, & we went to Louisville for his memorial service, I knew a bridal shoppe down there had the exact gown that we'd ordered for my daughter ... so we went there & she was able to try on "the gown" (since hers was on order, being made). She loved it. We loved it. The back was perfect.
I'd like to put this into a story that I can share @ the reception. Would you help me?
Thanks!
