So after my FIL died, we had all his mail forwarded to our house so that we got bills and whatever else might be important. A year later, we are still getting junk mail for him - including various ads for cremation and/or funeral services (talk about awkward!)
Is there anything that we can do to get his name (and our address!) out of general circulation? I can't imagine anything important would be being mailed to him (us) at this point in time. I'm going to send a cremation ad back to sender with a note on it that the person has been dead for over a year now. Any suggestions besides that?
We get enough junk mail of our own - not to mention previous owners of this house (nearly 5 years ago!). Getting a dead person's junk mail is more than I need.

I wonder if you send it back cod...where they have to pay for the mailing ? then maybe they would take the address off
I still get mail at my home for the previous owner.....who was 95 yrs old when she moved into a nursing home, and we have lived her 20 yrs.
Maybe it just never stops.

Ask at the post office---maybe they can do something to stop it. Maybe put his name and return to sender on something like a change of address card??

Some good thoughts...Will have to see what I can do.
You know what irritates me more than the mail? The SOLICITATION PHONE CALLS we get for FIL ("donation" calls so they get past the do-not-call list.) Even though he never lived here, never had this number. Gotten off of some computerized address/phone list I suppose. I had one again today. And when the caller finds out they are calling a dead man who never lived here, they simply say "Oh. That's ok. I'm calling for anyone here." That really irritates me. I've gotten rather in the faces (if you can do that over the phone) of the last 2 who called, telling them off for being insensitive and rude for going on with their solicitation despite just being told they tried to call someone who died. Honestly, its hard to believe people can be that insensitive and mean...

Really! Some people are just out to make money and they don't care about your pain from losing a relative.

And I agree about the solicitation calls! Those are the only calls I get on my land line… It rings so many times a day, sometimes it's the same company! Grrrr!
