This is what we had in DS's room for about 4 years (ages 2 1/2 - 7). DH's grandma made them for DH when he was a baby. Recently, those curtains were switched out for plain cream-colored panels that cover the whole length of the window. He was ready for both something more big boy and wanted something that covered the whole window. DD's room originally had blinds (which I HATE, especially in a little kid's room) and a single ruffle above the window. Later I found a single planel that is kind of a bluish-gray. Her window is about half the width of DS's so a single panel fit perfectly across it. (I took the blinds down.) DS's window originally had blinds too but I took them down. Blinds in kid's rooms only seem to get ruined by little hands (or heads) poking through them... DS's old curtains are now in our play room - I figure they can stay there as long as it is a kid's playroom. Have fun making the curtains for your grandson!

Younger daughter just has blinds. Her room is tiny so we chose not to waste wall space by adding anything Older daughter has blinds on one window and plain purple curtain on top. It is plain but the walls have ample things on them

ds1 has a shower curtain as his curtain. Hobbit Curtains only were found in shower form so we used it. It looks great. ds2 doesn't have a curtain...yet. I'm trying to find a cool frog one.

I only have DS living @ home.
He has one window in his bedroom. He has a pair of long curtains hanging in there. I think they are from Kohls'. They tie back. Look nice.

My kids seldom had curtains. They had black-out window shades and that was adequate.
