Graduation is 11 days away.
I want to have a big party ( b/c graduating from college with a 3.9 GPA deserves a celebration!!)
We had a BIG beach party when dd graduated from high school.. About 65 -70 people… But it was so , so much work doing it all myself. This year I have no energy, with the house selling and all the running I am doing for my Aunt. Was thinking of doing smaller # at a restaurant….for close family and friends.. about 45 people, but that still runs about $1000 ( or more) Most restaurants charge $28-$30/pp. I would have to take out a loan against our home equity… That's not really necessary….
So DH talked me out of that… which is smart. I would rather give HER the $$… She is not *wanting* a party , really…. She has never gone on "spring break" vacation… maybe she would like to do a trip with a friend… or all of us as a family….
I just want to celebrate her accomplishments. SHe deserves that!!
I am torn and feeling so "down" about it….

I'd take her out for a special family dinner. College graduation parties are not a typical thing where I'm from.

I think college celebrations are more of a family event - and a gift to the graduate.

I would say family also.
But who knows-one of dh's 2nd cousins had a big shindig from graduating pharmacy school...all the adults drank like crazy-everyone with young children or Just children (in my case) watched the kids and reminded them to stay away from the adult beverages...I think the kids had the best time.
I got married 6 weeks after graduating college I don't think I even got a card (crummy family situation)

We have decided to do a casual family/friend party in July…at the Beach… same as HS graduation. A good reason to get together with family. But very laid back. She really doesn't care one way or the other, but now that she is home, she is planning it. She has ordered her announcements/ invitations… so it's underway! YAY!
Mainly family. A few friends ( hers) and a couple of close family friends.
