When we move out into the boonies this coming summer, I'm concerned about a lack of available activities for my younger two boys, who will be 13 and 10 when we move there.
Right now, we are in Awana, Sunday church, and homeschool group activities, but that's all. Occasionally my 13yo will take part in a sport program for special needs kids, but he's not doing that right now. My older four boys were into Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts at this age, but we didn't pursue it with these two because life has been so topsy-turvey for the last few years. Enter mama guilt.
Anyway, just thinking out loud. What activities are your kids involved in? I'm brainstorming for when we move.

Our main activity is musical theater. It is a wonderful Christian youth theater group. It has been a blessing to our family. Next week is show week for Fiddler on the Roof.

Boys are now almost 16 and 17
When they were 10 and 13 they played on the Park and Rec soccer and basketball teams…
But their main interest at that point was skateboarding! They got quite good… A friend gave them some ramps! They were in skaters Heaven!!! LOL Helmets are non-negotiable. ( knee and elbow protection were …though I always encouraged it)

AWANA. Right now, that's all this mom's sanity can handle - too much else going on in life.... DS may do baseball through the YMCA this summer if it works - I have not said anything to him about it yet because it is far from certain.

Aside from church activities, my kids are limited right now to one activity each. Ryan plays piano, Sam plays guitar, and Gracie takes gymnastics. We might change that though next year. Gracie wants to take music lessons and I'm not sure I want her to be done with gymnastics yet.

That's what my own sanity I think will handle. It could always change as they really approach ages where they are more interested...but probably it will remain limited until they are much bigger. (And even as teenagers, I would rather not have them involved in EVERYTHING - I'd rather they pick and choose. But we'll see...)

We did AWANA for a little over a year but ended up having some issues with the director so I let the kids drop it. All the kids play soccer (we started the oldest at 8, 2nd oldest at 6, little man at 4 & the "baby" started at 3). Girls do AHG and Little man does Contenders for the Faith (all meet at the same time). We also do 4H (but this will be the last year) for awhile. I think that is it for extracurricular stuff. had to take a huge step back from "stuff" and we are taking another step back from more "stuff" next year.

See, I always said only ONE activity, but my boys are super sedentary and it's impossible to get them off their butts half the time. Gracie is pretty athletic and I want to encourage her to move her body and stuff, so as long as she wants to stay in gymnastics we'll probably let her. But I really think music lessons are important too. Hopefully she'll be able to take piano from Ryan's teacher and they can go on the same day. That should at least save us some driving back and forth. Because of our small town we have to drive 20 minutes to get to just about everything.

Right this very minute Ds1 is in band (at school) and basketball (through church), he is also involved in our smaller church campus youth group, as it is impossible to get him to the youth group at the larger campus. He decided lot to try out for the play this week because it's too much for him. We will sign him up for baseball this week, which starts in the spring.
Ds2 is in basketball and will sign up for baseball as well. He is 8.

We'll see how mow ideas work out when we actually get there.

My girls (7 and 4) both do piano, community children's choir, and Math Circle (which I run), in addition to church activities. DD#1 has tried out gymnastics, tennis, and soccer in the past, but she seems to have inherited both my abilities and my interest level when it comes to athletics (that is, zero ability, zero interest ).

Our kids do Community Bible Study, Church small groups (2 separate ones, actually), Church choir, the boys are in Trail Life & the girls take music lessons.
Their non-church-related activity, though, that they really enjoy is through the NCFCA program of speech & debate. Juniors compete through age 12 in Speech events, and then they made add Debate at 13 or 14. The weekly club meetings are great practice, but the largest amount of growth is through competing in actual tournaments.

Having a sad moment....my youngest is 16....
When my kids were young......#1 wanted to play hockey, which he started at age 7 and played through end of highschool, and then some through college, and now he still plays twice a week. He still loves it as much as he did when he was 7.
#2 son started karate at age 10, and he is 2nd level brown, and still goes to the karate school when his college class schedule permits.
All of my kids were in cub scouts (and i was the den leader for #2, #3, and #4).....
Our church didn't have a youth group, but later we did stuff with the homeschool group
