Does it feel to you like this BB is not as active as Hearts was?
Sure looks that way to me. I remember back when H@H had 20+ people on the board at a time. Here, and even there, today, it's like 2 or 3 at a time. At least that is what shows up on my computer.
And then, my posts hardly get any responses. Yes, it gets traffic, but I'm not singling myself out .... I notice this with all of us.
It's just not as fun anymore as it used to be. I'm kinda wondering where else I could go ....
Do you wonder this, too?
I've certainly had my days/months where I haven't been active, and the last several weeks I was with my mom all day, every day. But now I'm home again .... and on the computer. Just really, not much going on around here anymore.
I could stir up some action I suppose, but that's not the problem that I see ... I just see a lot of inactivity.
What do you think? And it isn't just this week .... it's been months now.

Yes. Definitely slowed down over the past 18 months or so. This board will likely always be slow until the ladies currently on stop. I don't see how it will continue without the link to H@H

I actually was thinking that it was busier here than it has been at H@H for a while. lol.
Proboards does have lists and stuff (that's my way of saying, I'm not sure what all it is). I think that it's kind of like how yahoo groups does where there are different boards and can search a category for boards. There are ways that they have that you can increase exposure too. Been meaning to look at that and see what it says.
I think that we're probably doing the main thing that we need to do, and that's having ongoing activity. I think that having activity keeps it higher up on the lists or whatever.

I have seen comments in other threads on this same topic. Quite a few ladies said they were more active on the board when their kids were smaller.
That is one a few reasons I am not as active on the board as I used to be. When dd was a baby/toddler I spent more time in the house. At that same time, there wasn't school homework and my dh wasn't gone both in the morning and at night, like he is now, which means less free time for me. She has many needs I have to address in the afternoon and evening, and I would rather be spending time with her in person than sitting in front of a computer screen while she is alone in the next room.
I have read a few readings on how as a society, many of us now function as individuals rather than as a group. Maybe that plays out in how there are so many people on Facebook, running their own page, rather than being part of an online message board group? Just a thought. I know that doesn't hold true for everyone, as many people- my dh included- don't like FB and aren't on there. The individual vs. group/community thing is playing out all over the place- how we shop, how we pay our bills, how we read books- community library vs. e-reader. We have become an individual society rather than a group society (obviously not all of us, all of the time, as we still have a community/group when we publicly attend church and serve and worship with others- something very much encouraged in the Christian culture).
And I am just very guarded about what I share on a message board. I learned there can be evil out there when you post on a message board- somebody didn't like what I shared about a relative, and they figured out who that relative was on Myspace and directed the person straight to the message board I posted about them on. That pretty much ruins you from wanting to be too involved in a group message board where there is lots of personal sharing going on!
It isn't as fun as it used to be, I agree. I don't think that's an indictment of the board (not saying anyone said it was)- I think it's just how things are now for various different reasons.
Just my thoughts!

An additional thought- it's also a very busy time of year, almost being Christmas, and maybe some ladies just haven't made the move over here yet. I hope we don't lose too many!!

What do you think? And it isn't just this week .... it's been months now. I think some of the issues that we are dealing with here (the board) is that we have just made the switch and people are learning the board, some people are still going back and forth (thought I'm popping in about once a day over there and hitting "new posts" only brings up 1 or 2 posts now and we are right at Christmas. I was thinking the other day though that it seemed like more people were getting involved here. We've had oldies register and post that haven't been on the H@H board in quite sometime & lurkers over there that have registered and started posting here. Right now, we have 8 people here and that doesn't count anyone that has chosen to be "invisible".

I would just give it a little bit of time. I have no real desire to get another board and try to get to know people all over again though, so I am not going anywhere! Amen!

I definitely think it's a series of things.... ~ Hearts IS still open so some haven't made the move yet. ~ Some have made the move but aren't wanting to double post (here and there) so while they have registered here - they are still posting mostly over there. ~ It's the week before Christmas. ~ Some have said they won't come here as the board closing was a good time for them to decrease their web presence/time. ~ Some might be "just watching and waiting" to see what the new board looks and feels like. New things can take time to "take off". I've evolved from a post more, read less kinda girl to a read more and post less kinda girl. Just my place in life right now. ~ A link from the fb page to this site might help keep our board on the internet radar. (Are we allowed to keep the Facebook page? I'm not on fb anymore so I'm not sure what the name of the group is. But if its "hearts" affiliated will we need to change that name also to reflect our new name?)

I am thinking it's the christmas season, and everyone is so busy.
Also the plan to be more productive around the house, less time on computer...

I think it feels more active here than the H@H board has been for a while.
I think H@H made a serious error when they didn't upgrade their forum to a mobile-friendly format several years ago. I'd been asking about it for a few years, but the board stayed as it was. I think that made a lot of people leave there, or, like me, just post there much less frequently. It was very difficult to navigate on mobile devices, which I think is what a lot of people use these days.
(Which leads me into saying how much I like this board more than the old one due to being mobile-friendly!)
I doubt we'll see an uptick in activity here until after the new year. Traditionally, traffic on the H@H board is slow every year around Christmas. That is nothing new.
I was on the fence about joining this forum, but I'm glad I did. I'm enjoying it with all its fancy features. (LOL) By the way, my kids say my avatar looks just like me. (LOL)

Two more thoughts:
One, most of us have "big kids" now. Back when the majority of us had just "little kids", we were on here much more frequently. We were home more, cooped up with little kids all day, craving "adult conversation", etc. Things are different now. We are all more confident in our parenting ability at this point in our lives (I assume - LOL), so we aren't seeking the advice of a quantity of "like minds" anymore.
Two, traffic on the H@H forum dropped off dramatically with the advent of Facebook. I think what a lot of people were getting from the forum (advice, support, etc.) was suddenly found on FB. (I'm not on FB - yes, still! - so that didn't apply to me. But I could tell a difference as time wore on.)
