I can't believe how much groceries were today.
I usually get a small cart, and just get what we need for the next few days....
Today I filled up....and, thunk. wow.
I want to tell everyone, no eating out for 2 months !

Yep tell me about it. I got my two college boys home right now. I did the weekly trip the other day... $350. That's for one week! *thud*
I remember when I had four very young children and being appalled when the weekly grocery bill hit $100. Those were the days!

yep grocery prices went up on many staples. I just dropped $200 at costco…I'll have to get another $200 from the grocery store soon.

It's a bummer, huh?! I feel it here, too. And yet, we gotta still feed 'em! ha ha

We are still usually under $100/week - every month or 2 we will have a week that goes over usually.

But, food is very high here...and I have a DH who eats enough for two most the time.

Y'all come shop in Panama. You'll feel instantly better about prices.

That part doesn't shock me anymore. Mwhatmdoes still shock be is how depending on what store and what the sales are how full or empty the back of the car will seem based on the same amount.

From what I have gathered from other converstation, we are significantly cheaper out here for food than you guys are. Shopping sales as much as possible, I can usually get away with roughly $70-80/week (occasionally less or more) depending on what we need.

I'm always much less than average (especially considering we have 2 adults & 4 kids eating 3 meals a day more often than not) we spend between $80-$100 a week. Some weeks we ate pretty good & sometimes the same amount of money buys much less.

Have you ever figured out how much was just Panama price difference (which I know is huge) & the change in price with the dietary changes you made (didn't most of the diet changes come after the move?)?

Yes. All the diet changes came after the move. Most of the cost difference is simply between the CHEAP of rural Georgia and the EXPENSIVE of Panama.

I thought about this last night when I was walking out of the grocery store. I saved $100+ (don't have the receipt right here, but it was 100something). I spent $172. Good thing that I saved a hundred! At least gasoline prices are going down. It's $2.49 a gallon by my house today. yay.
