Doctor update: It's a lot more common in small children than you would think. The majority of cases out grow it in a few months. It can be caused by either constipation or diarrhea. So to help it resolve, you feed the kid a diet to cause the opposite problem. So DD will be on a constipating diet for a few months. Basically, bulking up the stool instead of softening it up. Which is hard as she likes fruit, etc. He did say to get her back potty training soon. Position shouldn't make a difference, she's just freaked out by our reaction so she has regressed. She's back to doing fairly well peeing on the potty so I'm going to give her a couple days as we have some places to be this weekend, then back to trying to poop on the potty too. I need to call one of the nurses there. She is a long term bowel management expert. Doc said a lot of questions I may have, she would know more as she deals with it more than he does. I'm going to call and get more ideas on what to feed her. I want to constipate her but not malnourish her. I'm hoping we can add back in diary now. And sweets on occasion. Poor girl just wants her hot cocoa after playing outside! lol We took her to the mall after with the intentions of seeing Santa. But he was on break. DD decided she didn't want to see him anyway (which is fine as one pic was $17!) so we took her on the carousel. Then I snuck into Build-a-Bear to check on the prices. Surprising affordable as long as you don't get all the accessories. So she got to build a bear too. She loved that!!

All good to hear! Hopefully you can add back in some of the things she really likes soon.
Does your DD ever watch PBS or PBS.org - specifically "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" on there? There is an episode about potty training on there. Its really cute. My kids both love that show - including the potty episode. My DD loves singing the song from it when she's in the bathroom. Just wondering if something fun like that about going potty might encourage her to return to potty training - something to help her think its fun instead of scary?? I don't know if it would be helpful or not but thought I might throw that out there.

She asked to wear undies today so hopefully it will be easier to get her back on the potty. I did bring back up her little potty that goes on the floor. It might be easier for now than the stool and potty seat insert for the big potty. Her feet don't quite reach the stool when sitting on the potty unless she sits really close to the front...which she doesn't like.
