Marinade for beef, pork or Chicken
½ c lemon juice
½ c soy sauce
½ c vegetable oil
3 T ketchup
3-4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
¼ t black pepper
Combine all ingredients and use as a marinade for beef, pork or chicken. Marinate at least 4 hours.
Our favorite way to use this is to marinate the meat and vegies for shish-k-bob. It's very good.
For Steak or Venison From Linderlou
The recipe said it was for venison, but it worked well for the steak. You could probably use it on pork, too.
1/4 cup wine vinegar (I used balsamic...yum!)
1/4 cup cooking oil (I used olive oil)
1/4 cup catsup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
Dash pepper
Stir together all ingredients. Put steaks or chops in plastic bag; set bag in shallow dish. Pour marinade over meat; close bag. Marinate in refrigerator 6 hours or overnight; turn occasionally.
You can save the marinade and baste the meat with it as it cooks.
The steaks tasted wonderful with the marinade.
For Salmon From Joy at Home
I cheat and use McCormick brand GrillMates, the Mesquite flavor. This is my favorite way to make salmon on the grill.
The package says it's for chicken, pork or beef.
Sugar Free Barbecue Sauce From sarakw6
2 cups diet coke
1 small can tom paste
chopped onions (as many as you like)
1/4 cup vinegar
dash of cinnamon
salt/pepper to taste
simmer on stove for 2-3 hours, stirring as needed.
Yakky's "Saucy" Cheese Sauce
Cornstarch based Cheese sauce
2 cups milk
2 tbsp. cornstarch
stir continuously til bubbles and starts to thicken
stir one more minute over heat
add salt and pepper to taste
remove from heat and stir in 2 cups grated cheese.
BBQ Sauce
2 c ketchup
1 c water
1/2 c apple cider vinegar
1/2 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
5 tbsp brown sugar
5 tbsp gran sugar
1/2 tbsp pepper
1/2 tbsp ground mustard
1/2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
in large saucepan combine all ingred. Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer. Cook uncovered stirring frequently for 1 hour 15 mins.
Ranch Dressing
I think this recipe was originally from the book Tightwad Gazette. I've been making it for years.
1 c mayo (NOT lowfat...doesn't work as well IMO)
1 c buttermilk
2 Tbsp finely chopped green onions
1/4 tsp onion powder
2 tsp minced parsley
1/4 tsp garlic powder OR 1 clove garlic (I always use more b/c we LOVE garlic)
1/4 tsp paprika
1/8 cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl (I use a canning jar and just shake it up really well in the jar). Refrigerate. Makes 2 cups.
Reynolds Bag it!!!! Yummy! Moist! Easier clean up!
Here's the rub I put on mine. It is a bit difficult to do, for you put it on after you've put the turkey in the bag (and a 24 lb bird is going to be awkward to work with).
3/4 c. oil
2 Tablespoons garlic powder
2 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon sage
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Mix together and brush over outside and inside of turkey before baking.
Your house will smell SOOOO good and the drippings make the gravy (that I have to have my mom make because I so can't do gravy) taste delish!
