Hello, Kindred Hearts members!
I am a homeschooling mom to my five children and wife of 17 years to my main squeeze. In the course of our marriage we have walked down many roads, some difficult, some joyful, with the Lord's guidance. We have gone through infertility, adoption, foster to adopt, tragedy, and, most recently, a battle with cancer.
We we currently live on a small hobby farm, where we raise a few sheep and chickens. We have had goats, ducks, and pigs in the past, but are in downsize mode right now. I am an avid reader, gardener, and crafter.
I am am looking forward to getting to know you all.

Thank you! Home life is kind of crazy, but other than church, the library, and the grocery store, we rarely go anywhere. I'd rather do crafts with the kiddos than clean, so my friends know to give me 48 hours notice prior to visiting. He has kept me sane this long...I know He has my back!

Welcome tiggywinkle! Your hobby farm sounds like what I grew up on. Working on building up my even-smaller version of that finally.

Have to ask, Tiggy, is that a Shetland? He is a Finnish Landrace, actually. They are very prolific breeders. Two years ago, one of our ewes had sextuplets. That was a busy spring.

We usually had Suffolk when I was growing up. We got twins or singles from them. Are you sheep used for meat or wool? (I'm not familiar with that breed.) Or are they just fun to have?

They are a dual purpose. They have lovely wool, but are considered the crème de la crème of lamb meat. I have never eaten one because they are my babies, but sources who have say that they are delicious. Mostly, we just keep them as glorified lawn mowers.

We had some Finn (and Polypay) in some of our CVMs--for the twinning. We no longer have wool sheep--just Suffolks now.

Ours were for meat growing up but my mom kept sheep for several years after she was done with raising lambs - she just liked them. I hope to have some goats in the next year for glorified lawn mowers.
