Ive been going to Curves for about 3 weeks now. They say you should strive for 10000 steps per day. I have yet to reach that goal. Do you walk 10000 steps? That is a lot for me. Ive been averaging about 5000. Maybe when it turns warmer.

I try to get 10,000 minimum. It's easy to track with my fitbit. I average at least that much, though some days are under, depending on what I have going on.

I used to get 10,000 easily. Not so much lately.

No, not lately…. I could when I was working at Hospice,a nd walking for exercise.
Now, winter, a bad knee, and a less active and more sporadic jib….
I think I will get another pedometer or whatever they are called… for spring and try to increase my walking!

I have a hard time reaching 10000 steps. I need to purposely walk the treadmill, go grocery shopping and work to make that goal.

Ive been averaging about 5000. Maybe when it turns warmer. I think that that is lot for most folks who don't walk to work or do a lot of walking for work, or whatever. The way that I get 10,000+ is by being intentional about it. On the days that my husband and I take walks, it's pretty easy to get over 10,000. The rest of the days, I normally just have to be intentional about it so that I make them fit into my day. Do you like to have friends? If so, send me a friend request!

Im still figuring this board out Oh, I'm sorry, when you were talking about step-counting, I assumed that you were talking about fitbit. I meant fitbit friends. I am on facebook though. Sorta, kinda. I try to be, at least. I'm not a good facebook'er. Happy to add you though. I've been there twice in the last month, so I'm trying to get better.

I will have to be intentional to get 10000. I just started tracking. I get about 6500 on days I work so 10000 will be doable, but I will need to add some walking or elliptical outside of just my daily walking.
I haven't tracked on days I have exercised and went to work yet.

10K is difficult for me. I have to be ultra intentional. For me, right now in my season of life, 7K is my "goal". i don't even reach that a lot of days. I have a very small house and with homeschooling I am not moving a lot and currently I'm too lazy to exercise for real.

Yes on a good day pretty easily. Without exercise. Yesterday I was at 12,000? And that had a 1.5 mile walk in it. Using Garmin connect which helps

Like many others said, I have to be very intentional. I do well when it is warm enough to go for walks, but if I don't purposely do something to get those steps in, it is a really pathetically low number.

On days I run, no problem. On days I work, I'm at my desk for hours and struggle to get even 5,000 unless I make plans to meet someone for a walk. I just try to do my best and when I don't hit 10,000, I try not to feel too bad about it because tomorrow is always another chance.

I just try to do my best and when I don't hit 10,000, I try not to feel too bad about it because tomorrow is always another chance. You sound a lot like me right now. I'm doing more of my regular exercising - the more rigorous stuff, so the step count is taking a back seat. I'm healthier when I have do a combination of both than I am when I'm just focused heavily on steps. I still try to get around 10,000 each day though, but ordinarily I'd do a good bit more than 10,000. So, it's a good boundary for me. I feel good about it. I let the busy of life take over my healthy routines for a while there, and gained a little bit of weight. I don't think that it's terribly noticeable to anyone besides me, but I'm in the process of losing a few pounds. I've already lost 5.5 pounds. I do kwym though, I've been giving some of the first fruits of my time to writing more lately, and it's next to impossible to write while walking, lol. Some days, I really have to push myself to get in those 10K though, when I've given more time to writing. Balance is good. I'm getting better at balance. I'm such an all-or-nothing kind of a girl, that it's hard for me to cease striving when it's time to be still.
