My BMI was too high when I had my medical screening for dh's insurance (he gets it through work) and because of that we'll be charged an extra $30 a month fee. I called to see if I had any other options & they gave me a "Reasonable Alternative Goal" - now I have 60 days (57 days left) to lose 3% from my medical screening weight (which is about 10 pounds less than my current weight). So I need to lose about 20 pounds (& have it verified by a dr) before Jan 8th. No pressure. Lose 20 pounds during Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years! It can be done but I am going to have to buckle down fast!

You can do it.......I have been over weight since i started having kids,....25 yrs ago. And it has just been the past 2 yrs that i have seriously tried to loose, and have lost 49 lbs. Cut carbs. that is the plan that works. Eat salad, meat, nuts, limit fruits....you won't be hungry since you are having meat, and your sugar won't be spiking.....add a little exercise and you can do it.
Eat the cookie or so.....and the biggest thing i had to do...was never get a plate of dessert.. .....I would get a fork, and eat bites off of dh's plate. Let him eat the calories, and i would get a taste of the dessert.
My goal ---- as of today-----so i won't gain weight during the holidays....
I decided to walk 2 miles a day (88 miles between now and end of year)...so i rounded up to 100...will have to add a 3rd mile on some days.....and 175 miles on the exercise bike. That is once a week having a 25 mile ride.
All very doable....just making the time. Since it is cold and rainy and dark early, i will use the leslie sansome walk at home video's...lots of them on youtube.

Um yeah, no pressure. But hey at least they are giving you a chance and at least you have a goal and you have a good motivating factor. I'm sure you can do it

I think I'm down about 3 pounds right now. I didn't consider the extra I need to lost to account for clothes in the drs office. wonder if the drs office will let me strip and weigh myself there.
I need to figure out how I'll try to do a drs appt. I'm good with just going to a walk in clinic paying my co-pay and being seen only for the weight check (as long as I'm under my goal paying the co-pay just for the weight still saves me money). But I could go ahead and schedule my yearly with my Ob/Gyn and have my pap & get the weight check done my only concern there is they still have the old manual scales and I always weigh about 10 pounds more on them than I do at home (it just doesn't feel very accurate) and I hate to think I'm at the right weight and get down there on the "wrong" scale and weigh too much & have to go to a walk in clinic anyway and see if I weigh any less there. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.

You and me both! I really need to get some weight off as we are considering one of those share medical plans this year. I also just need to lose it already! Keep us updated on your progress!

So far so good. I've cut out most of my extra snacking and cutting carbs (again). I'm making a point to get in some exercise (walking and zumba, right now) and I'll probably add either some of my Jillian stuff or my Shaun T stuff next week. I'm going away with dh this weekend so I don't want to start anything this week because I'll be too sore to move.

Ugh! I was doing good until dh and I went away for the weekend and I've been pretty stuck since then. I bought a new scale but it weighs me at atleast 4 pounds more than my old one but I figure I'll keep it for now so that if nothing else I'm either basing my weight loss off a higher weight or I'll figure out that this scale is more accurate. Back on track tomorrow.

That sounds like what happened to me when I changed the batteries in my scale. Suddendly I was a lot heavier. I'm with you, I've got to get back on track today. I weight almost as much as I did near the end of my pregnancies. I'm not watching calories just yet though, I'm working on my exercising first.

I'm sorry Laney. ((((((Hugs))). This is a hard time of year to lose weight. Just keep taking one day at a time and do your best. That's all you can control

Hugs. I've been having success (albeit slow) with the "fast" diet I've shared about before. Two days per week (DH & I do Monday and Thursday usually) I only eat 500 calories (a 200 calorie protein bar, a 100 calorie Greek whip yogurt, and either a 190 calorie Sargento balanced break or some soup). The other days I eat a reasonable amount (no calorie counting). I've lost ten pounds in three months that way. I have lost quicker with it in the past, but this was during the fair, birthdays, and holidays, so I'm happy enough with it.

I'm down to crunch time and we've still got a trip to the IL's to get through. I'm pretty much doing every unhealthy thing that I've ever had success with. I may try the fast diet again once I get past my deadline. From tomorrow on it'll probably be either a salad or a bag of green beans as long as we are at home until I weigh in again.
